I don't hate Tyson. I just hate when people compare him to more accomplished fighters. It's actually UNFAIR to Tyson. Take him for what he was.a Really good fighter who made a boring division exciting again while on top. No more or less.
He beat hardly ANY TRUE HEAVYWEIGHT HOFamers, his reigh on top was rather short, in the grand scheme of things. And he lacked a magestic aura, in the sense that the great ones come back and take it all. And essentially, he did to a degree and got beaten by an aging HOFamer. Ali, for example, beat Frazier, Foreman, Liston and quite a few others. Then he gets ousted from bixng for political reasons, 3 or so years OUT OF HIS PRIME, and comes back and still fights at a top level, respectably and with force, and does so for a while after.
Mike Tyson was a really good fighter, but people should stop over-selling him.

He really turned to ****, but you can never take what he did at 19-21 from him. He was the most exciting young fighter to ever come up. I was 12 in 1986 when me and my mom first watched one of his fights. I was amazed by him even though I was a kid. I can't remember what that first fight was, but I remember later seeing in the TV guide that he would be fighting Marvis Frazier. I was all excited to see that and the fight finally happened, I was in awe with how fast he knocked his guy out. After that I seen every fight from Berbick on. I was a teen ager when Tyson was in his prime, he was the only person I ever idolized growing up. He fell apart big time. He has to be one of the biggest disappointments ever.

For the record, I get what the thread is about. I already wrote that. I was making the other posts about his overall accomplishments due to where the conversation has ended up going.
EDIT: You give me bad karma for asking a question about how many Hall of Famers Mike Tyson has beaten? LMAO.. Someone is insecure. Jesus, once again, it ain't hating. I've never hated on Mike, I even said I enjoyed watching his rise. I just said he's not top 5 heavyweights, all time. Thanks for the red k, though. Real mature of you.Last edited by THe TRiNiTY; 12-03-2007, 04:51 PM.

I didn't talk down to him. I said he wasn't as good as all time greats. Ohhhhh. That's such a bad thing. He was still, at one point, the most feared boxer in the sport. It's not like that's something to scoff at.
