I loved the sport so much, I used to deliberately get into scraps with my peers after (elementary) school. The very first fight I ever attended was the champioship match between Carlos Ortiz of Puerto Rico (champion) and Ismael Laguna of Panama (challeger) in 1965, which the latter won by UD.

    Nuff said.
Where'd you get the video game gif of Duran? That's pretty sweet.

I've been a casual follower of boxing, meaning only paying attention to the big fights, since Roy Jones was P4P best. I would tune into the sport only periodically. Since about mid-2006, I've been pretty hardcore. The fight that really got me going was Taylor/Wright. I've spent the last year and a half trying to catch up on the events leading up to where we are now. Mostly thanks to youtube, aka the greatest site ever. I still don't know a lot about the history of boxing, but I feel my knowledge and my ability to predict and analyze fights is very strong.

        So that's where I'm at.

I was born in 1959 and watched boxing as a kid. I really became immersed in the sport as a result of the build up to the March 1971 Ali-Frazier 1 fight at age 12. At age 15, I started boxing and ended up having 38 amateur fights as a lightheavyweight and 1 at heavyweight (I weighed 205). I loved boxing but had to work 2 jobs while in school, so I could never dedicate 100% to training, so I never came close to being able to fight pro.
I have collected all the boxing ****zines from 1973-2006 and have about 25 from before 1973 and slowed down after 2006, just getting the rRng. I also have about 70 boxing books and hundreds of fights on film. I have a buddy in town who has thousands of fights on film. Our great sport is very addicting! And I still love it!

I've watched boxing with varying levels of interest since I can remember, my dad was quite a big tape trader back in the day so even when I was a small kid I can remember it. I didn't really become a fanatic until I got the internet around late 2002.

seems a lot of people here are new to boxing. I've been a fan since 1995 when Tyson fought Mcneely. And I've always liked it, but never got the coverage to see it on TV.
