Or did you just take a specific, fact-based discussion and spread it out into a blanket statement?
I am assuming that anything international is beneath anything that happens on US soil. I mean, I've been reading your posts for a while now. The world is more global now, we have a lot of world trade agreements and collaborations, many global mergers, joint ventures, etc. That domestic type of thinking belongs to a different age. Maybe,, 50 years ago.

And I do think Zag would beat the piss out of Toney at 168. I've always felt he was overated. He looks outstanding against textbook fighters....but Zag sure as hell is not textbook.
Also, Nunn is one of the only guys who could match up with Joe in the speed department.

And KJ- do you think that Calzaghe woulda tko'd Michael Nunn?

        I had it 8-4 CalSlappy.

But I do not see Joe as being a special fighter.
At 35, how did RJJ fare??

MAn, at 35 RJJ's body without steroids looks as bad as Calzaghe's but Roy's stamina is not even in the same league right now or even in the first Hopkins fight.

Let me preface my post by saying this: Calzaghe's performance in the middle to late rounds was incredible....

However, I was kinda dissapointed on how bad he looked in the 12th round. Kessler was obviously pressing as hard as he could and seemed to really take Joe outa his rythmn and make him look vulnerable. Did anyone else get this impression?...

Oh. The young Calzaghe who KO'd all those big name fighters? That Calzaghe?

Maybe it isn't age that sapped his power-- We all know that power is the last thing to go. Maybe (just maybe) it was the level of competition.

Boxing fans...we have another moron on the boards.

Have you ever been involved in sports? Serious question. At an elite level, also?

Don't know, Nunn would be a tough match for him, but that's not strictly relevant to this discussion. I think Toney at 168 would have beaten Lacy nearly as badly as Joe did. Calzaghe would have looked just as good against Barkley - - which by the way is a signature win for Toney, even though Barkley was old and had already been KO'd several times and also beaten by a lightweight. Calz would lose to Jones so that cancels out. All in all it's too tough to call on resume, which is overplayed in here anyway.

If you loko at the fighters, their strengths and weaknesses, I'd pick Joe to pick Toney apart ten times out of ten. Even John Scully has given Calzaghe the noid here. Considering ICE is friends with JT, that should nearly end the discussion.

I'm talking about "all things being equal".

Yes, I am not going to buy a car to go on vacation.

But dontcha think HBO is feeling pretty good right now that they own The World Awaits?

Check this out: have you ever been at Circuit City or Best Buy and you see a Rolling Stones "best of" Cd ? And it's like $8.99? Cool!!

And then you look at the song list, and it doesn't have "satisfaction" or "Sympathy for the Devil", and you're like WTF?

Well, that's because the clearances were too high. Whoever owned the song would be charging too much money , so the cd producer couldn't afford to pay those licensing fees.

Similarly: when Sports Illustrated or Mayweather Enterprises or whoever wants to put out a career retrospective DVD of "Mayweather's Greatest Hits", guess who they will have to pay a licensing fee to? Time Warner.

That is why it is better to own these properties.

I can't just start printing New England Patriots or Real Madrid t-shirts in my basement. Not legally, at least. I don't own that trademark.
