    Pavlik's Chin

I am still of the opinion that Pavlik has a tough chin. After seeing some comments in other threads about Pavlik's "mediocre" chin I wanted to hear some more thoughts on the subject.

If you think Taylor had the chance to put Pavlik away and didn't, you're right but this isn't because Taylor didn't land some great shots. Taylor punched himself out, yes, but not throwing a bunch of errant punches. He punched himself out on Pavlik's head. I said earlier I couldn't see why Smoger would be a big punch away from stopping the fight, but watching the fight again I can.

I watched round 2 in slow-motion on my DVR. Here is a breakdown:

At 1:49 remaining Taylor counters a Pavlik jab with a jab of his own and a hard right hand over the top that lands behind Pavlik's left ear. That is the punch that starts the trouble for Pavlik. Taylor then throws two jabs followed by a right hook to the chin that staggers Kelly back. Taylor misses a couple punches, then puts a right hook behind the ear, another HARD right hook behind the ear and a left hook to the chin followed by two right hooks to the temple. Taylor turns Pavlik with his left hand, throws a right hook that Pavlik blocks with his glove and Taylor turns him a little more with the left. Now Pavlik has his hands down and seems to stick his face out inviting Taylor to throw. Taylor does: a quick left jab off the cheekbone, a right hook to the chin and a left hook hard on the nose and Pavlik is on his way down. Taylor gives him one last right to the head for good measure and Pavlik is down at 1:38. At 1:35 he is back on his feet and headed to the neutral corner.

I won't bother going further than this, but needless to say Pavlik took more punishment after the knockdown and was able to sustain, though he did almost go down once more.

If you think Pavlik has a mediocre or suspect chin, then you really must not think Taylor can punch, because he hit Pavlik flush a ton of times with "bad intentions" and Pavlik preserved.

NO NO NO NO... I dont know who is saying Pavlik has a weak Chin.. but they are no doubt ******ed..

In Pavlik's Last 2 fights.. Pavlik has eaten some big punches and seemed unaffected.. It took taylor landing 6 clean power shots to finally get Pavlik down and he was up 2 seconds later..He also has awesome recovery cause he ate a few more well landed power shots and stayed on his feet..

His chin I think made the difference in Both the Taylor and Miranda fights..
      Besides his power that is

I'm more worried about his ****iness, idiot tried to taunt Taylor after getting hit with some good shots and paid for it by tasting the canvas....

He's got at least a good chin, not a great one.

Taylor I'm not sure about, let's say below average.

Agreed. His legs buckled even to some of Winky's shots.

No way is Pavlik's chin suspect. His chin is GRANITE. Were talking Mayorga granite. The only reason he got stunned pretty bad was the same reason Mayorga did early on with Oscar. The speed. He can take a great shot seeing it coming, but not seeing it coming, although he still takes it, it really ****ed him up bad. He ate like 6 clean, fully loaded power shots before finally dropping and getting up in 3 seconds. That's granite for you. Any other person would have been gone within 2 clean shots, nor would they have gotten up. Not only did Pavlik get up, but the rounds after, he looked as if he was never knocked down. Bloody nose, but who cares, he had one in the Miranda fight and same result.

Oh ya, I'd like to add, a lot of those fully loaded power shots were behind the ear and we all know what happens getting hit back there. Seriously equilibrium **** up.

Taylor landed a hellacious shot against a Pavlik still a little cold early on. Anyone could have been dropped by that.

And yes, he taunted. Stuck his tongue out while facing all of us on press row.
