He was as skilled as you could be but the philly in him tended to takeover and he just wanted to **** it out. Meldrick had the potential to be on everyone's ATG's list. You take the risk you reap the rewards, or you feel the consequences.

I haven't seen that many fights of Talyor other then his fight with McGirt and Chavez. One thing I noticed in his fight with McGirt was that he still fought like an amateur, throwing random flurries and couldn't knock out a McGirt who was badly fatigued because he only had 5 weeks to train. With his fight against Chavez I've noticed his skills dramatically improved, using his jab to setup power punches, while being more crisp with his hooks. That was probably Taylor at his peak. People often say his defense was somewhat poor, I mean he was getting hit by Chavez a lot. He's often compared to Mosley, I don't think he had the potential to be good as Mosley because he had such horrible defense.

Hell no because the owner wants to put a winning team on the field and if that means the fans get less excitement for more wins then that is what is going to be done. The fans are not going to keep buying tickets to see a losing ass team.
So basically like I said this **** isn't really all about the fans.
Sports have always been about winning. The Baltimore Ravens team that won the Super Bowl is a prime example of how winning is what really matters. They played boring football but they won games and the fans loved them for it because the WON.

He did have a great defense but it's like so many have said before he had that philly mentality in him and just liked to go toe to toe.
One of the best ever fighters I have seen certainly in the modern era but he took to many punches when he never really needed to.
It really is tragic how everything turned out for him.

Meldrick Taylor was an excellent fighter. The way he would put together combinations was ridicolous. Its too bad that lost to Chavez damaged him so much. Its kinda ****ed the way it happened with Steele stopping the match with only two seconds left in the last round. I think if that lost didn't affect him so much he would have definitely been up there.

Ron Borges: "Look at the end of the fight and tell me what you see: One guy got assaulted, so should they have stopped the fight...yeah, they should have stopped the fight." Such a good way to put it, but then again, I don't see how much more damage could have been done to Taylor with less than 10 seconds left in the fight.
Whether or not Taylor won or lost the Chavez fight, he would NEVER be the same fighter. He got absolutely taken apart because Chavez hit him so much and so hard. But if he hadn't been so much of a Philadelphia fighter, I think taht yes, he could have possibly been in contention as the GOAT.
