The Euros stepped up their boxing game, we stepped our down. For now. That's all there is to it.
I never said a basketball player would make a good boxer....I said that that out great athletes chooses other sports over boxing..like basketball/football. In order to be a good boxer you do need to have some athlectic ability.

Why fight, when the odds are slightly better that ull make it in the NFL, and u'll definetly make a ton more money?

The ones that could have been major heavyweight stars, opted out of boxing and went into football.

its a very true statement, absolutely no doubt about that

you're probably impressed by height/weight figures and times in the 40 yard dash too. You probably think that LeBron James could beat Klitschko if he trained for two years.

      Sorry, I'm crabby tonight

Yes but they have other sports in those other countries too; boxing demands unique physical and mental characteristics. The concept of "athlete" has hurt American sports across the board. Those NFL players perform specialized tasks, and no one else in the world playts their game. Those NBA players are losing out to foreigners too

This thread is about American Heavyweights, not Nigerian Heavyweights. You're another pathetic WLAD Hater.

I see your point. But I still stand by mine. Other countries have other sports yes..but do they pay NBA or NFL money..no..The biggest sport in the world is soccer..other countries, UK/Italy/Spain pay top dollar to there soccer players..kinda like what we pay our athletes in some cases even more. Now those big Euro heavys..cant play soccer..and they are just to big to play basketball..so they concentrate on boxing. Our guys have a choice..alot of them over seas in those eastern europena countries dont have that same choice.

The global scene has actually caught up with the U.S. if not overwhelmed it in basketball as well. In addition to the World Games look at the last NBA Championship team in the Spurs, there's like one or two key American born players. America only represents a small portion of the World's population and it was only a matter of time before this would happen; afterall just being born in this country doesn't mean you'll be a superior athlete. The only reason why were not seeing more global NFL players is because the rest of the world is playing the other football.

BTW, Peters may not even get pass Oleg.

                PATHETIC?!
                TONY THOMPSON!
He beats every other guy other than Klitschko, Peter, probebly Chagaev and maybe Valuev, although remember Valuev reportedly lost against Larry Donald, could have lost against Ruiz and was losing against McCline...but anyway Thomspon beats MAskaev and Imbragimov.

and theres some other OK ones out there...like Brock, Chambers, Byrd, Ruiz, Rahman, and stuff...

                could be worse anyway.

The Eastern European breed of heavyweights is extremely talented. The champions(WLAD,Chagaev,Sultan,Maskaev) and the upcoming prospects Povetkin,Boytsov,Dimitrenko, and many more are all great fighters. The problem is the AMERICAN MEDIA. They still think the best heavyweights should be black, chest pounding thugs and they all try to say that the real HW champs are in Football and Basketball. Well in case you didn't notice football was around in the glory days too and don't give me this crap about basketball players, they are oversized ******* that don't know how to fight and flail at eachother. The Media is going to have to learn to embrace these talented White European Fighters and give them the respect they deserve.

The real question here is why do you have such a chip on your shoulder about American heavyweights/boxers/athletes? Your thread starter is either a simple attempt to bait posts, or you are just plain ignorant. Either way, I'm moving on to another thread. So long dumbass.

The reason why I say this is because I was born in Ukraine and I moved here when I was a kid. I am extremely proud of my people and I am pissed off about the lack of respect my fellow Eastern Europeans are getting.
