Berto's performance wasn't the greatest tonight and he seemed to lack that all around attack that I've seen in his other fights. He wanted that great KO and went for the big shots instead of using his jab that was effective when he used it. Plus he neglected attacking the body and seemed not tp use that great uppercut as much as he has in previous fights.

He still won though and thats what counts and I think him, and his trainers learned a lot from this fight and will work on correcting those mistakes and getting better. He's still a ways away from really contending in the WW division, but he's exciting to watch and will only get better.

Yeah this is really all that needs to be stated.

He's a strong guy, hard puncher, has pretty decent handspeed in my opinion.........but very immobile, has suspect stamina, questionable defense, and a style tailor made for someone who can put together punches in numbers. I think Antonio is right in that we'd have to see him fight a Carlos Quintana type fighter to gauge how good he is at this point.

Everyone is getting a bit too crazy with the exposed talk. He wasn't exposed, he was just caught lapsing and I could care less about that knockdown........it was flash and he recovered from that.

Yeah, but he came on very agressive after that, and pretty cautious toward the end

Go read the "Berto on FNF" thread.

And why is a comparison between Berto and Kahn even an issue........and how did that become an extension of people favoring American fighters?

Berto isn't a popular fighter, he's not the highest touted prospect in the States despite what Tessiatore was babbling about, and outside of Ryan (Asian_Sensation) who knows him personally he hasn't received much attention on this forum. I don't know where you're getting the idea that "People are so high on Berto" here.

Also you can't compare Kahn and Berto because Kahn is ten times as popular in the UK and might be you people's biggest rising star.

Berto certainly isn't the next big thing here. At all.

Then that even furthers my point.

His popularity transcends location. Nobody in the UK even knows who the hell Andre Berto is. Hell Anorak made a thread about him and referred to him as "That guy standing next to Asian Sensation".

                  This is not an issue.

I could never agree with that.

I can't name a single person I've ever heard say or read type stating that Berto was the next welterweight champ. Nobody even knows who he is, and the people that do pointed out time in and time out that he's a work in progress.
