Arum Wants Taylor-Pavlik For 9/22 in Vegas

It was reported by The Plain Dealer, that promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank is wasting no time in positioning Kelly Pavlik for his mandatory title shot at WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor. [details]

This would be good but somthing tells me it won't happen. It seems to right, this is what should happen. Pavlik deserves the shot, it seems weird that he might actually get it...remember this is boxing.lol

If Taylor backs away from this challenge, then he'll lose a lot of respect. Will he choose to fight Calzaghe in Wales or Pavlik in the US? With Pavlik's increasing popularity, this is a potentially big fight.

I don't doubt that Kelly would love nothing more than to fight Jermain, considering the payday that will come with fighting him, as opposed to fighting for a vacant title. But I'm starting to get the feeling that Arum won't be terribly disappointed if Kelly winds up fighting, say Giovanni Lorenzo, for the vacant WBC middleweight title. Demanding a 9/22 date is forcing Jermain's hand, which is all the reason he (Taylor) needs to dump his title and choose his own future path.

Arum and HBO will need to wave a lot of money and HBO will have to say they won't buy a fight between Taylor and Calzaghe to pressure him into a fight with pavlik. And I mean they need to wave A LOT of MONEY in front of the timid Taylor. A fight with Calzaghe will be a cashout fight for Taylor, not so if he fouoght Pavli. DOn't get me wrong I LOVE Pavlik, but Taylor can be skilled enough and strong enough to beat the kid. Taylor WILL lose if he battles Calzaghe. Like I have said before he is "Taylor-Made" for Calzaghe.

Wtf's wrong with Calzaghe's hands? Taylor's going after a guy with hurt hands, while Pavlik a guy with sledge hammers as hands is standing right infront of him.

I like Calzaghe, but all I ever hear about him is his hands this and his hands that.

jermain taylor will officially be labeled a COWARD if he does not fight kelly pavlik. there is no legitimate excuse for him to not fight pavlik.

So what if he hurts his hands during the fight. Spinks showed it doesn't take power to beat Taylor. Calzaghe is just as fast if not faster than Spinks; doesn't have the same footwork, but is bigger than Spinks and throws better combos. Calzghe can stay at a distance and pepper Taylor for 36 minutes. Don't forget Calzaghe kept pummeling Lacy all night and didn't hurt his hands, its not like they are perpetually injured, every once in a while Calzaghe doesn't have an excuse. To be honest now that I think of it, I would like to see a Lacy versus Taylor bout.
