    Kell Brook & Carson Jones

    I thought their first fight was excellent and that Brook nicked it but I'd have had no complaints if Jones had got the verdict.

    It seems to me that since their bout both fighters have been plagued by bad luck.

    Brook has only fought once in the year (by fight night) since & blew away Saldivia in less than 150 seconds. Since then we've all read about his on-off fight with Alexander.

    Jones has had worse luck in some respects. Prior to Brook he was on a right streak, winning 8 by kayo, some against decent opposition. Since then he got a draw against Dean Byrne (who had lost to a 20 year old, 5 fight novice) & he beat a perennial loser in 3 rounds.

    Neither Brook or Jones have the same shine they dead a year ago.

    If either one puts in a hugely impressive display they'll be back in the limelight but if it's a lackluster event (which often happens in rematches of great brawls) then both will have some climbing to do.

    Brook was schooling Jones in the first 6 rounds, I mean giving him a proper lesson. But he ran out of gas. Since then he's got himself in serious condition. He looks like a beast, and didn't Jones lose to Purdy at some stage after the brook fight? My guess is that Brook will take him out in the middle rounds.

        No the Purdy fight fell through.

        But Jones did draw with the last minute replacement, I forget his name.

          Brook will win this time, I don't rate him too highly but he's clearly a level above Jones and won't **** up again

            Nice surprise about this shorter form. Can you tell us what it is you are talking/writing about?
            Has any info. about this shorter form been posted before (and i just missed it)?

              Can't see how anyone can think Brook has shown improvement since the first fight. His problem against Jones is that when he couldn't get him out of there early he gasses and lost the entire second half of the fight. Since then all he's done is beat someone in 3 rounds, which says nothing about how he'll deal with the sort of problems he had against Jones first time around.

              I think this is a really disappointing fight. Yes the first one was good but only because Brook was so below-par. Carson Jones is better than his record suggests but he's not top level and Brook should've been matched with someone impressive if they wanted to mend some of the damage from the Alexander situation.

                The problem was never his style, power or anything like that. He just proved he gassed after six rounds. He's gotten himself a nutritionist now and looks like an absolute beast. Jones was getting his arse kicked the first six rounds. If Brook had better stamina he'd have taken him out for sure.

                  He looked good against Saldivia but he looked just as good against other opponents before the first Jones fight. He may have a nutritionist but he's had one fight since then and it proved nothing about his stamina.

                    The pressure is on for Brook.

                    He has to look absolutely spectacular and not struggle at all other the "Improvements" and "Stamina" resolvments will be void.

                    A top level fighter really shouldn't be struggling with Carson Jones in any way.
