Frazier beats Tyson 8 times out of 10

I've been reviewing the 2 a lot lately, I think Frazier actually beats Tyson quite easily. Why? Because essentially Frazier only loses if he can't get inside. Tyson is short and he's gonna come forward. It's going to be an inside fight from the opening bell. Frazier is simply a much better inside fighter and Tyson isn't going to land enough serious bombs to put a guy like Joe away inside. At best Tyson drops him or hurts him at some point, but in general catches a bad beating and might even get stopped late.

    Thats my take, thoughts?

Remember, Tysons style is essentially like Floyd Pattersons, only Tyson is a heavyweight not a LHW. He actually does better vs Taller fighters by slipping inside and landing a big bomb. The same goes for Patterson. Frazier kills Patterson too.

I can see where you're coming from, but I'm not picking anybody to beat prime (1986-1989) Mike Tyson 8 out of 10 times.

    His power was too great
    His fundamentals too strong
    His defense to impregnable.

The only people who gave Mike trouble were people who were a lot bigger and held and stifled him, going back to Quick Tillis, Blood Green, and Bonecrusher Smith, eventually Douglas, Holyfield, and Lewis too.

Frazier's not big enough to do that and isn't stronger

Joey is underrated. They talk about others being underrated.

The bolded didnt give tyson any trouble at all and were thoroughly dominated for 10-12 rounds. When Tyson faced Tilis, he wasn't even an 8 round fighter at this point and was coming off of an ear infection while Tilis had fixed health problems and had gone 15 rounds with dangerous punchers like Mike Weaver and Earnie Shavers.

I'd pick the 80's Tyson to beat Frazier 8 of 10 times. When you have two fighters that like to move forward and throw punches, go with the one who hits harder and takes the better punch.

Frazier was a bit of a one punch all time great. He seldom if ever used an uppercut, had no jab, and a medicore at best right hand.

          Tyson's weaponry is much better.

except Frazier is so much better than literally, anyone Tyson has faced, if we are talking prime for prime. Tyson also never showed any ability to inside fight. And Frazier showed great ability to keep coming no matter what was thrown at him.

Once again on paper everything is in Joes favor, but Mike gets a nod from his fans.

Frazier got up 6 times from Foreman, Frazier fought the likes of Ali 3 times and showed he can certainly perform under the lights and never quit. He showed vicious power dropping Ali, who has an iron chin.

I don't think people quite understand how this fight is going to look, they think Mike finds room and somehow lands a huge punch that Frazier cant get up from. This isn't gonna happen, even if Frazier goes down hes getting up. The scenario with George was he was being pushed back and not allowed to fight inside, and they decided it wasn't worth it. Joe never got koed.

Tyson, whos gonna sit in the pocket for 15 rounds while his corner yells at him, and Once Frazier gets going it ends bad.

Tysons weaponry is not much better, he's got a better right hand - but Frazier is better schooled. Tysons shots dont come off easy, hes tight and exposive, he needs room to punch. Frazier is smooth, hes got short punches, wide punches, snappy punches - slippery head movement designed to make you miss. He got hit more because he was literally coming forward 99.9 percent of the time. He fought like Henry armstrong. Tyson threw combinations which is good, Frazier threw bate punches combined with very hard single digging shots.

so the only people that give him trouble are journeymen? but not Joe? Holyfield beat Tyson by fighting INSIDE. he smothered him and Tyson needs room.

I didn't mean "trouble" trouble, I mean, they lasted the full fight whereas everyone else was getting KTFO by Tyson in a few rounds at that time.

Well first off, it doesn't matter if Frazier's better than anybody Tyson faced because styles make fights. I see nothing in Frazier's style that would say he would dominate Tyson.

And Tyson was a devastating body puncher in his prime. You forget he's bigger than Joe Frazier, stronger, and faster, and hit harder.

Dude, styles make fights, that's what I was getting at.

By trouble I mean, lasted the whole fight as opposed to almost dying in the ring like Tyson's other opponents in that era.

Holyfield beat Tyson by headbutting him incessantly and being full of steroids.

Holyfield is also taller than Tyson. 6'2 to Tyson's 5'11.

Show me a shorter guy Tyson ever had problems with.

When did fringe contenders become Journeymen again? BTW, Tilis fights nothing like Frazier. Holyfield beat Post-Rooney Tyson who was still dangerous but a headhunting brawler who rarely threw combinations. (Not taking away from Evanders ATG win, but Tyson didnt try to throw combos at all, when he did throw combos in the rematch, he was getting the better in that 3rd round).
