Who is the best win on Jack Dempsey's resume?

If you had to pick just one name...which would you consider to be his most impressive scalp?

    Jess Willard?

    Jack Sharkey?

    Tommy Gibbons?

    Luis Firpo?

    Georges Carpentier?

    Someone else?

The comeback against Bill Brennan. KOs by body blows are always special.

12-14-1920 MSG KO 12/15 --- "Brennan's best round was the second, when he landed two smashing uppercuts which had Dempsey in trouble. A left and right to the body put Brennan down for the full count in round 12. Brennan protested that he had beaten the count."

I'm just curious who folks think was the biggest win in Dempsey's career.

Sharkey was in his prime as a fighter and supremely confident. Later however he said the following:

“I never thought anyone could hit that hard. He would come at you in a little ball and when he hit your shoulder he broke your shoulder. When he hit you to the body it felt as if his fist came out your back. When he hit your hip he dislocated your hip. “

                  Willard.

Even if Jess was coming off a long layoff, and not at all aware of Dempsey's prowess, he was still a very capable fighter. Jack's demolition of him is one of the finest heavyweight performances of all time. It also has a lot to do with Willard being remembered as poorly as he's been.

After that I'm split: Gibbons was a great fighter, but Sharkey was a true Heavyweight, and Jack stopped him. I'd probably say Gibbons, but I'm OK with people picking Sharkey.

It is well documented that Willard did not take Dempsey seriously. Reports of Willards training indicate this finding him still in bed at noon and slacking off road work. Sharkey was prime and in a few years heavyweight champion of the world.
