Re: Pacquiao Vs De La Hoya blowout.

Some of that may have been due to the weight.

One factor that isn't out of the realm of possibility is that De La Hoya was having issues with drugs at that point.

I remember Angelo Dundee coming out and saying he oversaw the training and De La Hoya was training hard.

He might have got it together for the 8 week training camp but for the year before the fight and even in training for his tune up, drugs could have taken some toll, I doubt he was living like a monk like Hopkins out of camp.

      - -Oscar had been training for a year slowly dropping the wt.

His last fight was at 150 against a slickster he handled without prob.

Floyd ain't the brightest but could see the revenge writing on the wall and bailed on his biggest purse that Manny took.

The party drugs Oscar came later when he needed to fill the hole of being unable to box.

Asked when he knew Pacquiao would win, trainer Freddie Roach answered:

"Before the fight started. When he gained two pounds [from 145 to 147] between the weigh-in and fight time.” In an earlier point in the interview, Roach said: “I saw the IV in his arm, I saw the IV marks, it was fresh tape, they hydrated him too late, they waited too long to hydrate him. It was nothing illegal… The thing was, they couldn’t get anything into his system… Nobody let him build his body back up. They did it to themselves.”

            - -Freddie always knew Manny was gonna win.

In every fight Freddie was a trainer for Manny, I'd guess he's packed away substantial sums knowing Manny was going to win even when taking the ocassional loss.

Between Wildcard and Manny, Freddie is right comfortable in his sickest, elder years.

I think the duration of the fight matters in MMA to. They only fight 15 minutes outside of title holders/main events. Boxers at the elite level box 30-36 minutes. If you are weight drained you are more likely to be impacted by it the longer the fights go & boxing lasts 2x as long as MMA.

Floyd got the win at a comfortable weight for Oscar.

Manny got the win against a drained Oscar with IV marks on his arm as per Freddie Roach.

                It is what it is.

                  - -And what it is is Manny cleaned up on the fight Floyd ducked on to give Floyd a new fighter to duck.
