Who was a more feared fighter in their time, Mike Tyson or George Foreman?

This is the period before both men had received their first loss. Who was seen as the more invincible and feared fighter?

Tyson. No question. Largely because of the pervasiveness of the media and hype. Foreman just didn't have the coverage.

      Tyson

Foreman had more power but Rooney's Tyson might have been the most technically sound heavyweight ever AND most athletic.

Tyson may have been more feared but Foreman would have knocked Tyson head off. We’re talking about a man that faced 5 fighters in one night. That don’t make Heavyweights like that anymore.

The level of competition was totally incomparable. Tyson was a bigger, more famous phenomenon, but Foreman had destroyed Norton and Frazier, the two guys who had defeated Ali. Foreman dominated them both, and stopped them both in brutal fashion.

Foreman looked "invincible" against monster competition, and he made it look effortless. Tyson much lower level of competition had no chance, but again, there's just no comparison there.

Lol please tyson was mentally weak he’d of quit by the third guy. Also Tyson was knocked out by a few bums in his 50 + fights. I think foreman had nearly 100 fights and was knocked out only ONCE by the great Muhammad Ali

                  - -But they didn't. I coulda beat Tyson, Lenny, and Wlad on the same night but I didn't, therefore I don't make silly claims, not even dumb hypotheticals unless for comedic purpose.

Actually this comment brings up a very big difference. The whole demographic of the boxing fan had changed when Tyson plied his trade. I remember being in college and because of the way he won people all knew about Tyson.

When foreman was in his heyday, boxing fans had less casual elements... for example, most people would be shocked to know that Foreman was covered by Norman Mailer, in a piece from Playboy ****zine. But at that time sportswriters were more Oscar Madison than Kevin Lole.

But to have an a great writer do a piece on you is a fantastic endorsement.
