Partially, some are legit though. This guy is 100% accurate though.

Just look at David Chalmers, he's one of the worlds leading philosophers specializing in consciousness, he's done Ted talks.

I am not criticizing the TED talks. I am a great fan of those videos. For some reason speakers do turn up the showmanship on that stage.

Two bones to pick:

I don't believe his statistic about 7 footers. I really would like to see the evidence of that. Sounds far fetched.

Also, lets remember that the man who sees El Dorado (the city of Gold) above the Horizon will walk faster... I mean how would Jesse Owen's had run knowing that someone has set a previous record? People and athletes have a tendency to always underestimate what can be done when records are set.

The only record that I don't think will ever be broken in baseball is Joe Dimaggio's 56 game hit streak. But I bet we get a few 50's coming up now and then.

I also don't think anyone will ever break Joe Louis' record of 25 consecutive LINEAL title defenses. People could try to sell us about Wlad and Holmes coming close, but true die hards start counting from when someone becomes undisputed or lineal, since that levels the playing field. You can't start from when a guy just collects 1 trinket.

There are records and there are landmarks and sometimes they are the same. I am not thinking of the right word. Watermark? In track and field many of them have fallen. There was the 20 foot barrier in pole vault, but that fell; there was the 8 foot barrier in high jump, and that fell. There are few other landmark...watermark, er, barriers left in track. The 30 foot barrier in the long jump is the last of those classic barriers. We are not even close enough to other possible new barriers to consider them seriously right now.

Assuming they do not change the way its done... Lets consider Marciano's record for a moment....I don't want to talk out of my posterior, and I have to say I don't know off the top of my head how many of the Rock's battles were 15 rounders... but certainly when a championship fight became 12 rounds, there is no doubt in my mind that this made his record of wins more accessible. Yet we don't really hear about that do we?

I can see a similar situation with the Lineal. If the fans take the power back then this title will mean what it was designed for, we might see some real effort and even a shot at that record. BUt its tough lol.
