I would like to see some Cruisers move up and try their luck at Heavyweight. People put so much emphasis on size. Bowe, Lewis and the Klitschkos are the only 6'5"+ I would consider very skilled.

I think if Holyfield, Tyson, and Moorer were prime today, they would be champions. Joshua is no Lennox Lewis and Wilder isn't a Klitschko.
The more I think about it, I agree. Big bums like Michael Grant were dealt with left and right. Size is good to have but doesn't mean a lot next to skill and the Klitschkos and Lewis were freaks as far as skill, size and coordination combined. A lot of big dudes move like Tye Fields. Just awful.

Thinking has little to do about it. Statistics tell the story and its the classic saw where individuals do not know the difference between a cause and a correlation. The following correlation exists: There have recently been some bigger guys who became heavyweight champs, most notably, Lewis and Klitschko.

Does this mean that size is a cause here? Nope. If one looks at the recent history of heavyweight supremacy we do not see a trend suggesting that bigger heavyweights are getting the championships. Just looking at each alphabet soup and the various champs will bare this statement out.

Now there are many possible ways that size is creeping up and on average makes for a bigger average size for a heavyweight, but we don't know how this affects fighting ability because guys like Tyson, Holyfield, Ruiz, parker, Moorer, etc all fall within normal size for a heavyweight. This topic has been debated to death here and people have opinions in both camps. I would also point out that if we look at the heavyweight landscape presently there are some bigger and some average sized heavyweights fighting for supremacy.

Michael Grant would clean up the entire division of old...he would use his height to simply lift a foot and step on Joe Louis while Joltin the Brown Bomber...He would use Dempsey like a GI Joe doll and twist his arms off then punch the defenseless trunk... He would hit Tyson on top of his head with a hammer fist sprawling Iron Mike like pigeon s hit from one of his pigeon coops.... and Evnder? He would hit Evander so hard that the Bastard maker would be de-basterdized forever!!!

I see, it's a myth. Bigger heavyweights do not really exist.

All things equal the bigger guy beats the smaller guy, when are all things equal? the little guy is better in almost every department besides size lol

Wonder what Sigmund Freud would say about a thread asking if size matters?

That would've been a better nickname for Holyfield to use during his career than The Real Deal haha. I'd love to see a boxer take on the nickname of The Bastard Maker. Would be a good movie title too.
