But Marciano got you with the relentless pressure, a smaller man with no reach who jumped right past your sweet spot and came at you. Homicidal Hank and Marciano were imo the best at this game. Marciano had more varied head movement, he often had to parry and step big to avoid a shot...He could not get blasted regularly, not fighting the big boys, and had to fight in more ranges, carefully to get inside...Hank by comparison had no problem taking a shot, or three, to get where he was comfortable.
Other fighters I think make it more interesting in defining their primary attribute are guys like Hollyfield...was he a boxer who kept the pressure up? or a swarmer? rhetorical question really...
Smokin Joe Frazier, was his work rate and swarming compensation for being primarily a hooker? or was it integral to the way he was succesful...and more so than his left hook? WE have to consider that his right side was a relative weakness...If Marciano was so good, despite obvious limitations, what can one say of Joe and his one arm limitations?
Inquiring minds want to know lol.
