Robinson was as great as they come, but come on. He'd be giving up thirty pounds to a great heavyweight champion who could knock through walls with his punches. He busted a speed bag with a six-inch punch from what I've read. One good shot and Ray's done. Any middleweight would be. It's just not feasible.
Yes well theres actual ppl like myself who actually knows the logistics of boxing then you have the dummy Corso's here who boast empty falicies! Every fighter thats his favorite is Superman and actual superior fighters are Average like a Lennox Lewis who he considers poor skilled .He would tell you SRR beats him as well if he he we dealing with children since he loves his tall tales ,he still hasnt figured out reality *****s over absurdity !

People underestimate the importance of "conditions" in a fight. Sugar Ray Leonard did not underestimate them. Even Robinson was known to negotiate for ring size.

You want to see Joe Frazier beat Vlad almost surely? Put them in a 4x4 ring together. Sitting in their corners their knees almost touch. As soon as they stand, Frazier is inside. Vlad has no room to punch and is forced to fight off the ropes where he most hates to be. The big slav is already cornered, so there is nothing for Joe to do but punch. Add another rope, and you have fixed the fight even more in Joe's favor. Simple as that. If he rises fast enough, he can KO Vlad before he rises from his stool, or at least force him to defend himself the whole round seated.

If Robinson had negotiated for a venue like San Francisco, he would have beaten Maxim. He had his eye on other rewards.

Let's say Robinson is survivor-smart negoitating for Marciano instead of monetarily rapacious, and negotiates for an outdoor fight where the weather is cool.

Because of the close call he just escaped with Maxim, even for Robinson, against the likes of Rocky, there would be no shame in a running style more similar to sugar Ray Leonard. If Robinson trains hards and puts victory over money, or at least even to it, he will almost surely beat Marciano.
Robinson weighed less than 160lb v Maxim and was lucky he was up against someone who was not fleet of foot or hand and didn't have that special level of power. Even then, Robinson had to be continuously moving in and out of range, just to avoid the physically bigger man.

I'm not sure Robinson of 52 would have been able to pack on enough muscle to make himself closer to 170lb, to fight a close to 190lb Marciano. On top of that, he would have to move twice as often as he did v Maxim and avoid big, big punches from Marciano for 15 rounds.

There are weight divisions for a reason.

Robinson would have been laid so far out by Marciano.

It is not a given, as I tried to explain. Hell, I might make sugar Ray Leonard an even proposition against Marciano, because he already has the style I want Robinson to employ against Rocky. I would give prime Roy Jones and Billy Conn great chances against Marciano. Every punch Marciano hits one of these guys with is not going to knock them out. The Rock will land very few punches overall on any of these men because of their fleet style.

There are not many in that category. Great and naturally lighter stand-in-your-face stylists like James Toney would stand close to no chance against the Rock. Wrong style. Rock was perhaps the greatest P4P stand-in-your-face-let's-fight fighter ever. At least a contender for that honor. It takes the opposite style to beat him, especially for a smaller opponent.

Robinson physically wasn't big enough. We didn't see Robinson north of 160 (in and around) ever. He was worse at MW than at WW (not to say he was a bad fighter). It would have gotten worse for him if he went up physically to 175. His reach advantage over the Rock isn't significant enough to give problems. Robinson would have a very small frame for a heavyweight too. Rock is stronger, harder puncher, hard to hit, and has a better chin at HW than Robinson.
