billeau2.......Repetition is a must to be able to turn learned skills into whats perceived as natural ones. However when repeated poor technique becomes part of what you "naturally" repeat you will get taken advantage of by well schooled students and their teachers. Pep taught me to look for turned wrists, elbows, shoulders etc...anything that's repeated as a give away!


Mr. DW. I had a conversation with you via PM sometime back. You told me why you use your forum (avatar) name. I think your insulting a culture and being juvenile and I doubt the story you gave me has any validity.

It's extremely annoying to come on here and find posts from someone who is condescending as hell and acts like his word is final. He expects everyone to take his word on it WHEN COMMUNICATING OVER THE INTERNET! I wouldn't be addressing this issue if he didn't act like a 5 year old (He's not the only one). Someone who claims to have done as much as him and as old as he claims he is should be a little bit more professional. Also, he claims to have proof that he is the "almighty" Ray Corso, if he does then great I would obviously like to see it because it would increase the value of his opinion by ten-fold. A person who actually has first hand experience working with great fighters *****s everyone on this forum.

This forum is really sloppy btw, on other forums threads don't turn into debates about who is more knowledgable, a more professional approach is expected especially in the boxing history section. It's useless to name call someone because of their opinion when talking about subjects that can't be proven.

I am a member a few forums on subjects such as this that interest me and yes you are not incorrect in saying that things tend to get heated here but sometimes people need to be challenged when they make disrespectful statements about the subject matter I hope you get some enjoyment from the forum. everyone should have there say but be respectful to the subject matter and of course to each other.

I understand your ire. Its a generational thing partially. If I had demanded something from what amounts to a 'coach' in my training, I would have gotten condescending and words that were final if I were lucky, more lickely I would still be picking my teeth up, "just looking......for the molars and Ill be on my way."

True story in the spirit of levity...do what works for you but heres one from the vaults... muestro Bimba was a real hardcore, old school capoerista, the brazilian martial art dance and a raging young gun came in to demand a session with him to try his meddle...By this time Bimba was older and apparently perceived as "ripe pickens." by some of the young lions. So they have this cartwheel thing they do where they launch the body in a cartwheel and the idea is to catch the other guy in the kisser with the feet and shatter his face pretty bad...well this young lion came in full speed...Bimba, using his brain and experience knew that to shorten a cartwheel (this comes from book knowledge but sounds right) one ducks down in a smaller ball and comes out of the ball with the legs, hence making sure their legs arrive on target first, which is what Bimba did...and of course his foot winds up knocking the guy's front teeth out.

I've always wondered why more guys don't throw to the arms. Obviously over the course of the fight, an opponent is going to find it harder and harder to hold his arms up. The Rock hit very very hard and well, naturally, his opponents just couldn't take it over time. He always threw in close, too, which made him more effective.

i think most people just did not have the rocks stamina to throw what they may have thought were wasted punches but in the rocks case those certainly were not so

I can see that. He threw plenty of punches every round. It's hard for most people to keep up. Especially that many hard punches.

Marciano was like a pit bull among the heavies. Some people might think a irish wolfhound or great dane are more dangerous because they are taller. But don't count on that lack of logic in a dog fight.
