The life story of bernard Hopkins...

From prison, to club fighter, to paper champ, to undisputed, to being written off, to light heavy championship, to being written off, to oldest guy ever to win a belt..

In all honesty, my brother works in Hollywood on film crews and does a lot of documentry work with directors, and has pitched them the hopkins life story idea. He says they are intrigued and hope to get them to commit once the next slate of projects are complete..

Life stories that would be great films

Obviously ali, but that's already been done...

      My personal choices would be
      Tyson
      Hopkins
      Toney
      Camacho
      Golata
      Lennox
      Monzon
      Jack johnson

Those guys have wildly dramatic careers and would make great stories

I would like Clint Eastwood to make a movie about joe Lewis and his war service.
How he was an American Hero, who got mistreated because of his great heroism, in the face of racism. He donated money to the war effort, and died broke because of a tax burden!

How Sinatra had to use his Vegas connections to get Louis a job as a greeter at hotels so Joe could have a job.

How about a movie about Joe Frazier, his life & career, in a racially fractured America, who lent Ali money..... Then Ali talked crap about him, yet never paid him back. Ending with Bernard Hopkins getting people to put up a statue for Joe. But there was a statue for Rocky, a non existent fighter. Bullcrap

Arturo Gatti seems like an ideal subject for a movie. Exciting career, controversial death...

The Gatti story is for sure going to be told sooner or later. I bet someone is writing a Gatti book right now that'll get made into a movie.

I'd love to see a Diego Corrales movie. A real good doc about him I'd dig too.

I think a straight dramatic film about Gerald McClellan (with Anthony Mackie as McClellan) or Magomed or Randie Carver or Levander Johnson or one of any number of guys who've gotten killed or severely injured in the ring could be a good story to I think. Hell that might be some Oscar worthy ****.

Most boxing movies are not that good. I have seen most biopics of the greats that have been made. Ali, Louis and Johnson have the most compelling stories for integrating a lot of history. I saw the Will Smith thing about Ali and it was horrible, I thought.

I have seen very few boxing movies that can stand up to Hard Times with Charles Bronson for good action. A big problem with biopics is you already know the full storyline.

Sam Langford would be a nice one to see. I want them to use my Langford story as a template.

Totally agree about that awful Ali movie, and about "Hard Times" as well.

Even if you know the storyline, it's could still be intriguing if the story is told well. I believe there was a Ray Mancini TV movie years ago that wasn't too bad. There have been two so so Marciano movies so far.

Hard Times I'll have to check out. I really liked Somebody Up There Like Me, with Paul Newman and Raging Bull, when it comes to biopics. How accurate is the Newman movie and is the Treat Williams Dempsey movie any good?
