    I don't think extra weight increases the chin's ability to withstand a punch. Body punches, yes.

      If the fighter was badly dehydrating himself to make weight it would make sense that they'd be sturdier at a closer to natural weight.

        I don't think it does. Weight does not imo increase cranial punch resistance. Now...the body can be different in that if we have a real fat middle, though it is not an advantage, punches going to the body will be absorbed a bit. whoops lefty beat me to it

            Ah. And if they weren't badly dehydrating? Are there other reasons a fighter's power doesn't follow him to higher weight classes?
