Don't have a number 1 but if I had too probably Nigel Benn. Not the best but an exciting british fighter that could surprise most betting odds and had amazing heart. He took his defeat to his rival Eubank gracefully and came back and beat him the second time (not a draw) and I always consider the boxer type to have the advantage in a rematch especially if its later in there career. What makes him my favourite though is that he had no fear of any fighter but was still very aware of how much of an underdog he was in a fight. Hes similar to a holyfield in that he would be a worth challenger to any great plus he doesn't have the chin of a holyfield which to me makes him one of the most exciting underdog fighters ever

Danny "Li'l Red" Lopez
Similar height and build relationship to me although I'd have been a lightheavyweight. And to be honest he was mostly white looking. Bob Foster had been my favorite before that but I needed another white dude to call a favorite again, lol.
I also loved the look on peoples faces when Danny would get up off the deck to KTFO his opponent. Now that kind of action is memorable.Last edited by JimEarl; 08-12-2015, 03:24 PM.

Alexis Arguello is my all time favourite.
Why?
First fighter I truley followed when I was old enough to follow the sport properly. Amazingly fluid and skilled but also a warrior with extreme power. Way ahead of his time. My first love really, will always have a place in my heart. I would have loved to have met him.
The rest of my top 5 favourites for anyone who's interested;
Harold Johnson
Carlos Monzon
**** Tiger
Floyd MayweatherLast edited by IronDanHamza; 08-12-2015, 03:28 PM.

I followed Larry Holmes’s career almost from scratch, and saw him in his prime defeat formidable foes. But what he never was able to beat was the shadow of Ali. Succeeding a legend and you can be sure you’ll never get the recognition you deserve.
I had preferred him retiring after the Cooney fight – the highlight of his career – or definitely after the Witherspoon combat, when he complained about these young heirs to the throne getting harder and harder to handle. It was the sign, a downfall was under way.
