Ron Lyle might have been the best opponent George faced in the 70's (arguably that might have been Muhammad).

But whole career the best opponent was either Evander Holyfield or Tommy Morrison by far.

I thought it was interesting that he said Lyle was the hardest puncher...I thought he said Cooney was the hardest puncher he ever fought on like Letterman something.

Retired boxers are notorious for changing their answers to these type of questions from time to time. Ali has said that Liston, Foreman, and Shavers hit the hardest in various post career interviews.

Yeah that's true.

I mean I guess its kinda hard to choose between Cooney and Lyle. Both could crack something serious...That left hook that Cooney threw was just absolutely devastating.
