yea,,,foreman was unusually passive in that morrison fight. doubt very much he threw the fight but he did really like tommy and I dont think his heart was into giving him a beating that night. he was worlds more aggressive and meaner in the moorer fight just a year later

Collins is interesting, he lost to most of the best fighters of his era but manged to beat a past prime Eubank in two tough, tough fights, I've always felt the second one should have been a win for Eubank. Then he beat up on a shot Benn twice, did nothing and retired.

Collins was a good fighter, tough and gruelling to watch but also a smug ****.
morrison was a much better than average fighter but he just didnt have the gas tank or chin to be elite. dangerous puncher and had that punchers chance against almost everyone. would have had a better chance in this era

Chavez is absolutely in the same stratosphere as Duran, he was one of the toughest and absolute best pressure fighters in history, probably only second to Duran. He fought everyone he could have fought. He wasn't really in his absolute prime when he lost to Whittaker either.

Foreman signed for the Morrison fight expecting Tommy to come right at him, playing into his strength. But Morrison stayed on his toes at a safe distance and Foreman was frustrated. He pretty much said that in the post fight interview.

Chavez.....Top 10 pound for pound. Tough as nails, underrated boxing ability, capital chin, deceptively slick, and exceptionally strong. Would have done very well in/any era...you pick one.

Monzon....arguably the best middleweight of all/time. Cold, calculating, deadly assassin. Ice in his veins.

Joe Frazier....Top ten heavyweight of all time. At his best, relentless, brutal, a truth machine. He'd find out how bad you wanted it and how prepared you were.

Tommy Morrison.....One of the bigger "what could have been's" of modern heavyweight history. Great power, grew speed, great physical ability and a huge heart. Truthfully, while it was admirable of him to stay with the same trainer his whole career, I do think he would have benefitted greatly if he'd expanded his horizons. Also, I don't think he ever got over the Mercer fight.

Steve Collins.....One of the most overlooked fighters of modern times. He had a lot of heart, good skills, and had that "spoiler" feel about him. Very few top middleweights wanted him once, much less twice. That's why I think it took him so long to get a few big fights before he retired.

If all thats true about Benn how did he pass his exams, scans and blood? His management and commisions office turned away?
Ofcourse Foreman "liked Tommy" so much he threw the fight!!!! Really?

Once again I remember the old saying that opinions by fans are just like azzholes, they all have one.

phallis you need to not hate so much, it stunts your intelligence.

Benn, the guy who headbutted his way to MCclellan's title, killing him along the way. He landed at least two huge headbutts, one or both of which killed MCclellan. Benn deserved every beating he took. Not that I had any love for MCclellan, I just hate headbutters. MCclellan was an animal torturer and domestic animal killer, so he got what he deserved too. People who torture and abuse animals are worthless. Any shrine to him would be worth emptying my bladder on.

He didn't fight the comp Duran did....He was not only beat but outclassed by Whitaker. I don't mean to harp on the whitaker fight but its significant because one can say Whitaker is similar to Sugar Ray with respect to stature. If I remember correctly Duran was about where JCC was regarding prime at the time. A point of comparison like this should just not be overlooked. Then again the real estate appraiser in me likes points of comparison a bit too much.

So if we take the level of comp fought, the ability Duran had to defeat leanard in that first fight, I can't see how one can say JCC is his equal.

Ray when you want to insult a guy like Phallis you can do so much better given the screen name, here let me chip in: First of all regarding "fans are like azzholes"...one could say that Phallis is in the same territory as the azzhole.

And when Phallis hates so much it does not stunt his intellect (can't stunt something that does not exist) it stunts his growth! Regarding this board his hate makes him a smaller member, a flacid individual, soft on the brain and elsewhere.
