Burley's up there, a Top 10 ATG MW in his prime at MW.

He has so many great wins but they're the top level.

The man holds wins over a Top 5-10 ATG at MW, LHW and HW.

Louis passed prime but the other two prime.

    Simply incredible.
At what weight did burley n Charles fight.., I'm not a registered user on boxrec so they don't give me weights... I assume mw

In their two 1942 matches, Ezzard weighed 160/161.5 while Burley weighed 151/155.

Ok, thanks.. So safe to assume Charles had the size advantage.. That kinda dilutes the wins a little bit, but still good wins

          Dilutes it how?

          Both bouts were at MW.

Maybe dilutes is a little strong... Just not as impressive knowing Charles was bigger, at least by 10 lbs the first fight. Not a huge deal I guess once I pondered it some

That was normal for a MW fight back then. They were both MWs. Anything from 148 to 160 was a MW.

I don't think it dilutes it in any way or makes it less impressive.

He fought and beat a Top 10 ATG MW at MW.

Prime 4 prime, Moore was an excellent win(s).. Moore however, had been stopped by Booker and Bivins, prior to facing Charles.
Walcott needs to be considered, prior to facing Ezzard, he'd given Louis 2 tremendous battles, that effectively forced the brown bomber into retirement, so to step up to the plate and snatch the vacant 'richest prize in sport' was his best overall win imo.. Especially when you consider that Charles always struggled with Walcott in later life, despite JJW being the older man by 7yrs

Isn't it funny how when one starts to contextualize a question like the one posed in this thread there are so many possabilities?

I think that when you talk to boxing men familiar with the fighters at that time they might be favored towards Burley or Moore. There is a whole pattern to this triumphate as well: Nobody really dominated Moore like Burley did....and Charles holds a victory over both of them!

Its particularly impressive considering that when one looks at Moore's long career it can be said when he lost at times, usually he was not in his prime. Burley fought him in his prime.

So lets use triangle theory in an application that has merit and I will say, given Burley's accomplishment he is Charles greatest victory.

ok thats fine,, but realize a difference of 151- and 160 is the same difference between floyd and ggg, and we all consider that to be a ridiculous matchup, but if its burley and ezzard its ok...

                    I realize eras are different

Not really the same at all.

Golovkin's close to 170 on fight night and both Burley and Charles were legit MW's unlike Mayweather's who's not even a legit Jr MW.

Burley moved from 151-160 all the time. In his very next fight after the second Charles fight where he weighed in at 151 just months later against Holman Williams he weighed in at 160 lbs. The fight before the second Charles fight he weighed in 157 lbs.

Burley's a Top 10 ATG MW. Charles beat him in his prime, at MW. Self explanatory really.
