    "The Brawl in Montreal"

I know a lot of people will disagree. And please don't start telling me I'm wrong and need to learn how to score fights. I watched boxing a long time and regardless of what you believe I know I am competent at scoring fights.

So basically i believe Leonard won this fight. The reason I think most people think Duran won is because they were told to think that long before they watched it and during people were kind of shell-shocked by Duran's success.

Leonard didn't win that fight. I had it 8-6-1 or 9-6 for Duran. Leonard even said he knew he would lose during his walk to the ring. He said that he and all fighters know when it's not their night. Leonard said he knew "it was not his night"

It was a fascinating interview for me as a boxing fan.

Not again! This topic has been discussed to death (as in beating a dead horse). Reality check: The only opinion that counts has already been delivered by the judges. Had you been a judge that night, Duran still would've won by majority decision.

I saw the fight while it happened. It was the first fight I bet on. And I put it all on Duran (literally - but that's another story). I was impressed enough by Leonard's performance that I thought he had a very good chance of winning the next fight. I got good odds and bet on Leonard for their rematch.

I haven't seen the fight in about 10 years but every time I saw it I gave it to Duran - and I never had it close. I think you have to struggle really hard to give Leonard more than 6 rounds.

Agree. Any forum dedicated to history is bound to repeat topics, but this decision (and Frazier-Ali I) has been re-analyzed enough here already.

Well I wasn't here for the discussion so I don't care! This a forum. I can post what I like.

I know I sound like a pretentious bastard but I'm telling you that you are all wrong Leonard won that fight. The whole time I watched the fight the commentators are saying "Duran'd making him fight his fight" and I was like so! he's landing more punches.

Nothing anyone will say will change my mind. I know what I saw( about 5 times now) I was just hoping some had seen it this way and together we could figure out why no one else scored it correctly

Seriously no one cares what you've already discussed. If you don't want to post no ones making you.

I was thought the fight was super close 8-7 duran,,,

I just think he landed the harder cleaner shots,, SRL did as well, but not as many as duran,,, fantastic fight, but duran got it by a slim margin,,,,

He was nervous because of the size of the event. If Leonard wants to use that as an excuse for his performance that's fine. But I would tell Leonard to his face that he is wrong if he thought he lost that fight.

I'm telling you when Duran wobbled him in the first round the fight was over. People seen that and assumed Duran was winning. Even in rounds after the 1st.

It always happens in boxing. Commentators will act like the guy that was winning say (rounds 1-4) is winning rounds he's losing. Seriously it takes people a while to realize the fight has turned.

The Morales-Barrera fights kind of got the same treatment. Morales would land like 10-12 unanswered punches then Barrera lands one that backs Morales up a bit and all of a sudden Barrera is winning the round? Thats bull**** and fights shouldn't be scored like that.

I wouldn't argue with Duran by a point or two, but I wouldn't agree either.
