I found some interesting archived boxing articles

Last night i was just surfing the web and googled meldrick taylor,, One of the sites that popped up was from philly.com and had an article from 2000 about meldrick getting arrested for ***ual assault. I clicked on it and read the article, and i noticed they had related articles on the right hand side and most were about meldrick and dated between 89-91. I started looking at those, and every article opened up another 3 or 4 related ones, all from the late 80s early 90s..

Fascinating articles that really took me down memory lane,,,
I read about foreman getting 4.95 million for a fight on HBO vs ellis? and one about tyson holyfield negotations for a fight in 91..... Learned some new things like mike was scheduled to fight Snipes after ruddock possibly but the controversy of the first fight caused it to be cancelled,,, Alot of great stuff,, I will try and find and post a link,,, It was really cool to read stuff about the sport back then thru the eyes of reporters before the internet,,

I highly encourage everyone on history section to check it out

Thanks for sharing....I sort of had a similar experience. All the thread on Sugar Ray Robinson got me thinking and I pulled up some of his fights. Well he was hosted on a talk show. The host circa 1970 or so, was sympathetic but had to ask Robinson the following question. As he asked Robinson one must keep in mind that the host was incredulous....could not believe it.

"So Sugar man you lived the life of a king, and spent a whopping sum of some 6 million dollars....any regrets?"

Can you imagine!!! 6 Million which even by todays inflatonary zing dwarfs what most of these knuckle heads waste on strippers and booze!
