Ali stood up to some of the greatest punchers in history. His chin is not in question.

It is still worth checking out MA's first fight with Cooper in London.

Okay, so Henry was a level beneath Foreman, Frazier and Norton.....but he hit like an absolute ox and his trademark left hook was deadly serious.

Not to put too finer a point on it....Cooper hit Ali with his payday punch and got pretty much everthing he'd got behind it and the 'Hammer' looks like a properly flush shot as well.

Just how Ali was not sparked clean-out by that still has people of a certain vintage shaking their heads. A big, proven knockout punch, delivered to absolute perfection and Ali is just badly dazed.

A world class chin, immense powers of fitness to enable rapid recovery and as brave as the proverbial lion.

Are you kidding me? Did you see those shots ali took against frazier and he still got back up, incredible.

think ive been told, will someone out there make me look less ****** and at least agree that his reflexes and the way he absorbed the punches took a teeny tiny bit of the sting away and there were probably many times where he was hurt but he did an A class job at hiding it (shavers fight.) I don't like dissing the greatest, I thought I was actually giving him more credit. My lips are sealed

If the bell hadn't rung 3 seconds later, Cooper would have Cassius Clay on his résum?

He was out for a good 15-20 seconds.

Ali did get knocked down a few times, but that's because of him always being on his toes and moving around. They were just flash KD's more than anything. Have you seen the Ali vs Frazier trilogy? watch how many times Joe lands that crunching left hook and Ali still takes it like a man.
The Henry Cooper KD was certainly not a flash KD. Ferdie and Angelo were giving him smelling salts in the corner to wake him up between the 4th and 5th round.

Ali had a tremendously fast recovery. Which was proven time and time again. He certainly had one of the best chins of all times.

Joe Frazier nailed Ali with a punch that would have put t-Rex to sleep in their first fight. Ali went down from sheer brute force that will have shook him right down to his boots. But he got straight back up as if it was nothing and saw the rest of the fight through.

Overrated chin? Not a chance in hell.

I wonder about that ... ali was wobbly as **** whe he got up, no don't about that and seriously hurt but looking at his later career and how he survived when badly hurt against guys like shavers and frazier i'd have a su****ion that somehow he would manage to survive against cooper. Maybe he'd go down again but he'd get up again, he'd wobble he'd get pounded, but I just think he would somehow survive and come back in the next round and get the win. This guy was not just once in a lifetime he was once in a forever.

Ali chin was great, definitely not overrated.maybe not a George Chuvalo chin, but a slim, slim, slim percentage below it.
