that's not really the problem. i would say it's more the fact that DLH and Hamed don't belong on a p4p list, nevermind a top 10 one. it's pretty pathetic

guys like leonard do belong on a p4p list, probably top 20. DLH and hamed don't though. they lost most of their big fights and fell short if u ask me.

Well obviously having De La Hoya on a P4P list would be ******. Having Hamed on there would be bordering on insane. The point Ray Corso made, though, is that no recent fighters are ATGs, which is just old timer's bias, in my opinion (no offence intended, Ray).

My view is that Pacquiao and Mayweather should definitely be considered as ATGs. Now that's not me saying that they should be included in top 10 lists, or whatever, but surely they should be recognised as being well within the top 50 fighters of all-time.

That's spot on, if you ask me. Fighters back then as a whole were better. I thought this fact was well known.

Pacquiao shouldn't because for obvious reasons, and Mayweather is definitely close. Top 50 is still huge in my opinion. I would say the main thing these guys are lacking is a great resume, the guys that really belong on a top 10 p4p list have complied a great resume and actually take chances.

Have I missed something? What obvious reasons are keeping Pacquiao out of the top 50, yet Mayweather is in? Pacquiao's resume is greater than Floyd's. I dunno what my confirmed list would be, but I'd guess that they'd both be between 30 and 40 in my top 50.

Theres ONE p4p /ATG his name is "Sugar" Ray Robinson! Who cares whose second or third or nineth? Doc.
I wish I could find it again on U-Tube....there was a guy who showed extensive tape of Marciano. He would show something that looked like Marciano lunged and his opponent looked shaken....but here is the kicker: He would then break down and show exactly what Marciano had done.

First off: One has to understand that Marciano had short arms...a real interesting disposition when facing guys with reach and speed! Anyhow, you could see and hear from a boxing guy the technical applications used by Marciano, his angling, his head movement and how he closed distance using angles and ambushing. It was amazing.

I bring this up because as Ray says there are so many things that one has to be a fighter to understand are happening during the chaos of a fight. I know for a fact that as a martial artist very few people train well enough to truly apply technique... I worked for years in some dangerous places and eveyone claimed to be a martial artist haha well when fights broke out it was kick, punch and grab period.

I have seen real technique applied and applied it myself and people never know (who are watching as well) what you did. But you know. I have fought enough to see how these things apply in a contest environment and again, the little things become very big.

For me it gets frustrating because if you know what to look for and others see the same scenerio they look at you like you are crazy when you see great application! case in point: watch Marciano as he comes in typically and he is always at a 45 to 90 to his opponent. when he steps in weak side often the guy has to move his whole body to hit him...meaning I can see your body moving, instead of a hand which is so quick. Marciano also tucks his head down, his jaw is seldommexposed for a big shot.... these are a few things I noticed, the guy on the vid had many more

Just throwin in my jive 2 cents, its like music. meaning that kids these days only have this awful music to listen to so they think its the greatest music of all even tho they know half of it is just retreaded from back in the day along with studiofied effects. its all they know and its their time and we had our time too so let the youngsters have their time and b happy they r fightfans. think of it this way, what about joe gans, bob fitsimmons benny leonard and them oldies who almost nobody got to see no film on? how u gonna rate them? i think for accuracy u gotta call it a greatest list from year a to year b. u know?
