Who was the greatest Light heavyweight?

Archie Moore, Michael Spinks, Bob Foster, Roy Jones Jnr, or someone else?

Charles for me, and it's not all that close in my opinion. Moore is second on my list.

Archie Moore, in my opinion, although I know a lot of people on here that like Ezzard Charles.

It's funny to think, that by the time of his death in 1972, Nat Fleischer's all time top-10 at light heavyweight looked like this:

          1 - Kid McCoy
          2 - Philadelphia Jack O'Brian
          3 - Jack Dillon
          4 - Tommy Loughran
          5 - Jack Root
          6 - Battling Levinsky
          7 - George Carpentier
          8 - Tom Gibbons
          9 - Jack Delaney
          10- Paul Berlenbach

Imagine that; an all-time (and only up to 1972!) light heavyweight top-10, and no sign of Moore or Charles! Come to think of it, it's not really funny at all... but rather sad!

well said I cosign what others have chosen!

I would add spinks and Michael Moore to the list as well. Michael Moore was really a light heavy who came up to heavy, beat one of the best cruisers/heavyweights (Evander) and then could not hold non to it. Charley Burley was also on that short list...the man totally owned Archie Moore repeatedly!

I don't think I can really rank them though... All these guys had attributes and some of the best of them could jump up and take out a weak heavyweight when necessary. On this account Michael Moore stands out because when he beat Evander he beat a guy who became a HOF level heavyweight....If I recollect Bob Foster could not do the same (with Ali?) and Jones beating Ruiz was not quite the same.

Michael Moore boxed? And at Light Heavyweight? I didn't know that, I always thought he was just a filmmaker.

Moorer doesn't belong anywhere near that list. Also, he was not a light heavyweight in the Holyfield fights.
