Weight (ie. size has no correlation to reach). Height may have SOME correlation to reach but frequently enough you have short people with long arms and tall people with short arms to make arguing height to reach fallacious. Why not just argue reach in the first place instead of arguing height since it just obscures the key attribute of reach?

so height irrelevant? how ignorant are you?

an opponent's height affects your reach.

size is not just weight. size is everything. height , weight , reach.

You see, this is why I don't as a rule waste my time aguing with nuthuggers: No matter what you say to them, no matter what points you make, no matter what evidence you provide they just don't get it. It's a pointless exercise to try and use common sense to someone who is dealing in propoganda for their boy.

      again you keep mentioning byrd.

do you think you're the only one that knows byrd beat tua?

does jack johnson fight like byrd?

you are wasting your time and mine so gtfo. when a moron says size doesn't matter , height doesn't matter , styles don't matter......there really is no point.

plus i'm tired of reading your gay ass orchid posts anyway.

you still haven't made a single damn point explaining how you think fights would go.

all i hear is ****** **** about so and so are greater and tua lost to byrd.

        remember folks.

        size doesn't matter.

        height doesn't matter.

        styles matchups are just cliches.

        words of wisdom to remember.

              uh huh.......

              buzz off now.

go to a thread where size , height , styles , etc. don't matter and only resume/legacy does.

then you can just blabber on about who lost to who and don't have to discuss other matters.

                lol

when did i say a fighter would automatically win because he was bigger?

                that's ******.

that's like saying size doesn't matter at all.

Reread the post: You aren't the person quoted in it. The person in question actually HAS argued that in the past. Along with numerous other arguments supposedly "proving" that fighters from the past 10-15 years are the best ever and all those past greats suck in comparison. Size is a big part of his argument regarding Heavyweights.

And btw, I didn't weight doesn't matter at all: I said it doesn't matter as much as you make it out to matter ie. it isn't a decisive advantage. What I said doesn't matter is height, and no one can provide any empirical evidence showing it does; while tons of evidence can be provided showing that reach DOES matter.

If you're going to dismiss what I say you might want to actually READ what I'm saying instead of giving it a superficial glance.

Would Marciano be able to bulk up to a muscular 220lb and still be able to move? Unlikely. Just as Tua wouldn't be able to get down to 180lb without looking like a skinny crackhead. A big part of Tua's speed and power comes from his explosiveness, his ability to rapidly contract his muscles in the required manner to throw a punch. Like Tyson he seems to be a guy with a lot of fast twitch muscle fibres. His muscle mass most certainly does contribute to his speed, just as it contributes to Tyson's and to take that away from him (which is what you'd be doing if you're trying to get him down to 180lb) would only have a detrimental effect.
In your post you said "Tua would be about the same size as Marciano if he ran the amount of mileage that Marciano ran". I think if you train like another person and are the same size, then you are the same size. You and some others think Tua would win because he is bigger. But he just trains his muscles differently then Marciano did. Thats why I thought you thought that Marciano's training methods were why he would not beat Tua. While I think the opposite, I think Marciano could fight at a higher tempo along with being a more skilled fighter.

LHT has made the point that this is about who would win a fight, not who has the greater legacy --- has it not occurred to you Tua has no legacy because he simply wasn't good enough to carve one? It takes a great fighter to build a great legacy --- the fellas in this thread, by your own admission, were greats. Tua wasn't. I agree that doesn't determine the outcome, but it's a huge factor. Tua is just flat outclassed here.
