    Bert Sugar ''Carlos Monzon Is NOT a Top 50 ATG''

    What do you make of these comments? BTW Bert ranked Monzon 52 on his ATG list.

        I written about Monzon enough in this board for people to know my feelings on him. Horrible human being, but he is Top 50 hands down. He beat every opponent he ever faced, didn't lose like his last 12 years(like 80 fights consecutively), defended his title 14 times(universal title). He avenged his early three losses, and did give Bernie Briscoe a rematch who had a controversial draw.

        The guy did fight BIGGER guys and i exposed that lie that he only fought smaller guys. He also fought and won with damaged and strained tendons due to being shot in the leg. Even Bernard Hopkins pretty much admitted he is not sure if he could have beated Monzon.

        I don't think he could have beaten Foster at LHW, but i think he could beaten Tiger and I slightly favor him over Conteh. There was no SMW division at the time, so there was no other option but LHW. But Monzon did have a few fights over the MW division.

        As a side note, i have Bert's book and even Sweet Pea is #48 LOL.

          P4P is a very difficult story to get accurately. Though Monzoon should be top 50...I don't know what Bert thought..honestly I can't quite agree with some stuff he says...still its his opinion and he is welcome to it.

                  He was known for his domestic violence with many **********s and his two wives, one of which he was eventually accused of killing. He used to hit Paparazzi that got on the wrong side of him and asked him about his social life or relationships, a lot of which were hospitalized.

                    That's a load of nonsensical crap, but then again, Sugar factors in "historical legacy" and "character" into his considerations by his own admissions.

                    IMO Monzon is top ten p4p all time.
