    Alexis Arguello suicide confirmed

    I was watching Friday Night Fights last night and between bouts they mentioned that there was a family witness who says they were there and witnessed him pull the trigger.

    I don't know if this is old news but I was shocked as he doesn't seem to be the type to do something like that, but I only know him from interviews and documentary's.

    Totally shocked, as I always thought that he was killed for his involvement in politics.

    Im thinking that gov't official that visited his room told him he had to stay in office or risk losing his life. Backed into a corner he did what he did. Sad.

        Arguello's suicide is not surprising in the least.

        He's long had problems with depression and drug abuse. In the 80s he almost committed suicide in front of his child.

          Former boxing champion Alexis Arguello died from multiple stabwounds and 2 gunshots to the head. Sources in the nicaraguan police say that this is the most violent suicide since Che Guevara died.

                HEY MAN. The name is GOD-FR33 from MKE. i'M GLAD i RAN ACROSS ANOTHER holyfield fan! I got RED K the other day because I said HOPKINS would get the **** beat out of him by HOLYFIELD. ANY version of him! What's wrong with people man? He doesn't get the respect on this site for being A TOP 10 ALL-TIME HEAVY or being the greatest CRUISER/LIGHT HEAVY EVER! HOPKINS would get killed! This man is barely a light heavyweight. What idiot would put him in the ring with HOLYFIELD and thinks he would survive? LoL. Everyone also seems to think he wouldn't have a chance against anyone who ALI fought. FRAZIER, NORTON, FOREMAN, SPINKS. Are you kidding me?? HOLYFIELD would have outsized and beat up FRAZIER with his superior boxing ability and rings smarts. He would have K.O.ed NORTON. He would have outsmarted FOREMAN until he punched himself out and then HOLY would have finished him off. We all know that FOREMAN didn't have heart back then. SPINKS would have been an easy fight for HOLY. ALI might have outpointed him, but he would have been in a very close fight in my opinion. What you think?

                  I did not know that. He seemed to have such a passion for life and well being. I'm surprised to hear that!

                    Doesn't change my opinion of him, great fighter and a very classy guy.

                    Shame that in spite of the pleasure he gave to many he couldn't find peace himself.
                    Lots of people critcised his suicide as the act of a coward, anyone who saw him fight or knew a little of his life would know he was anything but a coward, its a tragedy that he never settled his inner demons.
