      No, but my mother is German so I know about these kind of things. Obviously it was big over there but because he never fought in the U.S, Most americans dont know much about him.

              Damn. How is DM broke when he had like 20 title defences and was a huge attraction in Germany. Maybe he didnt have many "big fights" like some other fighters but you would still think he had quite alot of money, Enough to keep him going anyway.

              I heard a simular thing happened with Sven Ottke and his wife but these guys were so popular and made alot of money from their fights. If only they were more sensible with it...

                most fighters never get their publisised purses, off the top of my head if you got 100% for a fight this is what happens:
                Taxman -33%
                Manager -33%

                Of the money left you then have to pay your team, so if you are lucky you will end up getting around 35% of any given purse.

                Still a lot of money though

                  Yeah, I guess so. But when you look at these guys and see how long they reigned for and how many people were at and watching their fights. They really shouldnt be struggling financially...

                    I read a story in BILD that DM has wasted over 30M euros or something. Mostly due to a divorce as mentioned but also from a life in the fast lane. The numbers are mindboggling.

                      Most fighters think that the money will always be coming in so they spend and never think about tomorrow, Tyson and Holyfield come to mind
