Joe Louis vs Mike Tyson

I can see either guy knocking the stuffing out of the other guy in a flash if either makes silly technical mistake in the ring. I think Tyson's style is all wrong for Joe, Tyson wouldn't give him the room or time to carefully place his trademark laser-beam accurate punches. I'd favor Tyson to flush Joe out in under 5 rounds.

Has Louis ever fought a really nasty swarmer like Tyson? I have seen him fight some good boxers and some brawlers/sluggers but I must admit I have never seen him up against a real nasty swarming fighter. If anyone knows of any fights please tell me I would love to watch.

PS: I have seen him fight Marciano, but I'm not so sure I'd categorize the way Rocky fought that fight to really be swarming.

Tyson wouldnt give him room? Joe didnt need much space to throw his punches and for them to KO somebody, esp. in his prime.

You think Tyson is a swarmer? He wasnt, in his early career he did get in close and throw some good body shots, but was always content to be held for a little rest. Frazier and Henry Armstrong are definetely swarmers, always in close throwing to the body and head, Tyson liked to have his space, mid range fighter is what I heard him called before.

Swarming a prime Louis would be suicide, his uppercut was good with either hand.

Anyways good matchup, the two best finishers in HW history. I cant count Joe out though, if he survives outside 5 he will TKO Tyson or make him quit, but otherwise I think Tyson is just too fast for Joe.

Tyson was better, that's all there is to it. He's bigger, stronger and better in every department. Louis had more heart, that's about it.

You can rag on about Tysons stamina but he threw so many punches in the early rounds it's only reasonable he slows a bit in the later rounds.

but, i too think that Tyson would take him out inside 5-6 rounds, if Louis survives after this he will win late. but Tyson would be too much for him IMO.

Tyson KO 1. He sparks Joe Louis. He's a better fighter for me. Power, speed, movement, he has every tangible advantage. Louis has a B grade chin and Mike would cash in.

Louis is a great, great fighter but he wouldn't know what hit him. Tyson would swarm him and pummel him. Louis had a chin, but it wasn't uncrackable and Tyson would find it and put his ass down fast.
