Personnaly, I don't like to compare fighters who spent all their career sealing a legacy in a unique division with fighters who fought in multiple divisions. It makes for very different achievements that don't measure well.

However, I would say Toney's multiple setbacks compared to Tyson total dominance for a while and the fact that he breaked records makes me want to rank Tyson just slightly higher.

A fighter who has had a similar career to Toney would be Ezzard Charles. That man dominated from 160 to HW. Charles ranks higher on my AT list than Toney though.

Tyson post prison had a lot of setbacks as well, his career literally became a circus show after holyfield I

I remember Toney saying that, in which post fight interview did he say it?

Hoilmes had 5 weeks notice to fight tyson, it was a great win for tyson as holmes wasc far from finshed as he proved by still fighting for the wbc title 9 years later against mccall and nearly pulling off a upset

I agree with you that he wasnt finished, but the guy only had 5 weeks notice, he looked flabby and lethargic in that fight

absolutely, but while he dominated, Tyson looked unstoppable

Toney, on the other hand, unofficially lost to Tiberi, lost twice (arguably) to Griffin, got thoroughly dominated by RJJ, , lost to journeyman Thadzi, drawn 3times, and his run at HW has been ups and downs, losing to Peter twice (arguably) and drawing with Rahman, testing positive on top of that

so in the end, Toney is a 2 time world champion in 2 different weight classes, we can't say his run through the weight divisions has been really a successful one. His title reigns are far less impressive than the ones of Tyson

to me, Toney sealed his legacy at 160, the rest only made his greater

                  I had Toney winning:
                  Griffin II
                  McCallum I
                  Peter I
                  I had him losing:
                  McCallum II
                  Tiberi
                  Peters II

No shame in losing to Jones(ATG), but Tyson lost to buster douglas and was koed as well Havent seen the Thadazi fight yet, is it entertaining?

Toney won belts at mw (ibf), smw (ibf), and cw(wbc?)

How would you grade toney and mike by this criteria?

                  Reaction to adversity
                  Accomplishments
                  Best wins
                  Consistency

                  I would have:
                  Reaction to adversity: Toney
                  Accomplishments:?
                  Best wins: Toney
                  Consistency: equal?

yes, I forgot there was the IBF belt on the line when he beat Jirov, so that makes Toney a 3 time champion in 3 weight classes (without the steroid use, it would be 4)

adversity : Toney (CRYSTAL CLEAR WHY)
accomplishments : Tyson by a bit (for becoming the youngest HW champion, for being the first man to unify all the major titles, for KO'ing men who had never been stopped like Holmes and never been beaten like Spinks, for his 9 successful titles defenses, for being as dominant as he has been prior to losing to Douglas)
                      best wins : Toney
consistency : Toney (CRYSTAL CLEAR WHY, as you have said, Tyson post Holyfield I was a circus act and never won a significant fight ever again)
