Which Past Fighters Would Dominate in Today’s Era?

If you could bring back any legendary fighter from the past and put them in today’s boxing landscape, who do you think would dominate? Would their style adapt well to modern competition, or would they struggle against today’s top fighters?

They were great in their day, but these are Next-Gen men we are talking about. We just saw it with Mike Tyson, a man who in his day was considered the P4P King at one point, but modern, Next-Gen man, Jake Paul, the Face of Boxing today, made him look very limited. People evolve. Jake Paul's future son, if he has his dad's boxing skills, ring IQ, and power, would be even better than Jake as an even more Next-Gen man in the future. Like Tony Soprano said: I can't have this conversation again.

But just curious to OP, what is the cut-off to you between Today's era and the past era? When I joined this site, the late 80s-90s fellas were hanging up their gloves and they weren't considered the past yet. Is the cut-off to you pre Klitschko or is it pre-Tyson?

Too many to list. But a short list would include:

          Angott
          Robinson
          Pep
          Dempsey and Marciano at cruiserweight
          Hearns
          Duran from 135-147
          Griffith
          Napoles
          Carlos Ortiz
          Hagler
          Leonard
          Palomino
Conn, Foster and Michael Spinks at 175
          Liston
          Archie Moore
          Kid Gavilan

Leonard, Duran and Ike are really close together. I could see Leaonars at 147, but Duran and Williams in the same division......Ike is terribly underrated...put him?140 and I'd have no arguments. Lot of flexibility I'm this kind of discussion though.

Of all the guys who met unfortunate fortunes I think right now would give M Spinks and JJ Walcott their best time to shine.

No surprise that 120 years of fighters beat 25 years worth.

Damn near ALL of them lol. You have to remember that guys like SRR, Greb, Armstrong etc. all fought HUNDREDS of times throughout their careers and moved around in weight far more than today's p4p stars (barring Manny). The stars of back in the day would literally wipe the floor with today's pampered stars.

How do you think, the best fighters of the first quarter of the 20th century would do against the best from the first quarter of the 21st century? Would they "wipe the floor" with the modern sissies - or have today's boxers, over a 100 year period, evolved too much for the old-timers to keep up?
