- - The Fight itself was epic because of George persevering after not being able to spar because of a horrific cut suffered the first day he arrived. Then he was held hostage and forced to live in an abandoned military quarters while Ali was being feted by one of the most murderous Kleptocratic Rulers in African History.

Ali took such a horrific beating that Ferdie and Herbert refused to let him fight the $10Mil 50/50 split financed by a black Indonesian Oil tycoon in Indonesia.

I must say that was the most epic combinations to finish the fight that Ali pulled off, yet still the specter of George's drugging by Saddler in the dressing room before and the short count Clayton administered while George was rising is another level of contamination. And it ain't a stretch to say DKing who was part of the promotional team was also involved as his copious M/O has shown through history.

Foreman got his eye cut by an elbow from sparring partner Bill McMurray,it happened on the 17th of September 3 WEEKS after he had arrived in Zaire. The fight was postponed for six weeks.
Foreman 's first accommodation in Zaire was in an old Army base but he soon moved to a suite in the Intercontinental Hotel.Foreman hired the men who guarded him in the hotel suite.All this is in his autobiography.By George.
After his defeat Foreman blamed a drugged drink of water prior to he fight as being the cause of his loss,he later publicly admitted the only drug was Ali's right hand.
Foreman shot his wad trying to get Ali out of there instead of pacing himself in the humid conditions.No drugs just overconfidence,and bad strategy.

Pacheco had no say in who or when Ali fought.
After the fight Foreman was in no condition mentally to fight anyone and it would be 15 months before he ventured back in the ring against Ron Lyle.By contrast Ali was back in the ring against no10 ranked Chuck Wepner inside 5 months.
I'm sure we would all like to see a primary source giving details,of date, venue,names,purses of a $10,million title defence offered by;
"a black Indonesian Oil tycoon in Indonesia."

We should lay off queeny as he is only debating and is entitled to his point of view. I don't want it to seem like piling in bullying. I will say that although he is accused of being wrong on his facts what would biography's be if everything only had one immutable fact??

That has been my experience. They hate getting it back. It is an effective means of conveying a message. My father was a great man. He fought the Japanese when it mattered as a Marine, he became a respected musician and director for a great conservatory school (Manhattan school of Music), and he was tolerant of others... To a point... What he would not accept from me, or others, was BS. His temper, a result of fighting overseas as a 16 year old (he lied about his age to join the Marines), would steam out...

I did not raise my own kids quite as hard that way, though I did make sure they had certain understandings down...But it taught me the value of not having to always be right, and to put fourth opinions for a good reason, based on good information. I have studied conspiracy theories and someof them hold some truth, all the more reason to not cry "it is a conspiracy" at every situation lol.

A lot of times it just isn't worth it to put in the time and energy to make a serious thread or post when you know some as shole is going to try and pick a fight with you over it. That got old more me YEARS ago. I've never been a Debate Bro and have a lot disdain for those who are.
