There are many amatures and novices that have picture perfect form. When you get to the elite level, one must tweek the "textbook", as a pro can pick up on tells. I disagree with your analysis siting lack of dynamics /angles with Joe. First, the hook isn't meant to be a power punch when thrown up top. If you are accurate, the velocity of an "arm punch" lead hook is enough, especially when thrown with the ferocity Joe had. Although JF appears to be lunging and throwing a bunch of wild arm punches, he set up his punches well. Good example is the hook he broke Ali's jaw with. He set it up with his trademark waist bending and body hooks. In the sequence before the knock down, Joe bends at the waist, hits Ali with 2 consecutive body hooks, Ali clinches, the ref breaks them. Frazier bobs a couple more times, feints like he's going to go low again, then launches a lighting quick lead hook up top. It lands right on the button, and down goes Ali.. Ali had an amazing chin, as that hook, which broke his jaw, would've put most opponents in the "dream room". It's subjective though. I get it.JMHO
