      Hack topic...
Nobody is talking about presidents, jerk off. But of course there have been more great fighters than presidents. There have been literally thousands and thousands of fighters and only 46 presidencies. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. The thread however is about who you would put on your own Mt. Rushmore of boxing.

Mt. Rushmore isn't about who were the greatest presidents it is about the four men who represented the ideals of America.

Independence; unity; the common man; the land.

It is not about who were the greatest fighters, it is about the four fighters who best represent the ideals of prize fighting.

        Courage; self reliance; equality; character.

They are identified in that order in the OP.
Exactly. There are no wrong answers here, I was just curious as to this sections different opinions.

Oh man you could go so many ways with it.

Onomastos of Smyrna - First champion

James Figg - First bare knuckle champion

Jem Mace - First gloved champion

Jack Dempsey - First undisputed champion

          or

Glaukos of Karystos - First star of the ancients

Jack Broughton - First star of bare knuckle

John L Sullivan - First queensberry rules star

Jack Dempsey - First star of the sanctioning era

          or

Apollo - Mythical inventor of boxing

Richard Dover - Anti-Puritan Englishman who links bare knuckle to ancient pyx/pygmachia

John Graham Chambers - Wrote the Queensberry rules

Hugh Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale - Started the first sanctioning body that's still around in some form

Or could go all american since rushmore is an american monument

I can't sit here any longer but I got tons of ideas. I might come back to this'en.
