Good videos Manmachine, good picks there. Cooney took some brutal combinations on the first knockdown.
And yeah, I won't use fights where a man died. That's too much.

      Some disgusting referee stoppages:

Johansson vs Machen. Machen almost got killed. One of the worst referees I've ever seen. This is like an even worse version of the Cooney vs Norton fight.

Ike Williams DESTROYS Beau Jack. Williams actually asks for the referee to stop it but the ref says keep going and he continues to pummel an unconscious Beau Jack.

Ingemar Johansson vs Floyd Patterson I. Patterson has no idea where he is at after the first right hand but the referee lets Johansson take free shots at Floyd. Patterson went down seven times until the fight was finally stopped.

Patterson vs Johansson II. Patterson gets revenge for all the beatings Johansson had dished out and knocks the big Swede out cold with one hit. No need for referee to stop the fight because Johansson was not getting up.

Man, with the rules back then it's no surprise that the knockouts were more brutal. I think for a few more reasonable KO's, i'd have to say Johnson-Ketchel, Louis-Schmeling ll and a few others from Joe Louis fit in better.

          derrick jefferson ko's maurice harris.
what i liked about that ko is that it came out of nowhere, and BOOM! ko'ed.

roy jones jr v.s glen johnson.

one of the saddest moments in boxing history.

Those two KO's are definitely brutal and significant.

Dempsey mauling Willard in the first round is another brutal, significant fight but the first round isn't the end of it so I'm not sure if it fits.

Tyson knocking out Pinklon Thomas is another good KO but the best part of this vid is Dundee yelling at the doctor at 00:30.

** Yes I would, because the timekeeper screwed up the bell and the fight was stopped. Jack took off to his dressing room but was brought back for about a 3 min delay between rounds. It gave Willard time to clear and changed the character of the fight as Jack was no longer in the kill zone, but rather going through the motions.

Jack robbed of a first round KO, and his purse I might add, as Kearns had bet the whole purse on a 1 rd KO.

Great. That will be the response to every clown that says "That wasn't no knockout!". Thanks.

Hearns vs. Duran. Duran got hit with the CANNON...

And not a K.O., but that shot that Shavers hit Holmes with, I believe it was in the seventh round, I still can't believe Holmes got up. That was one of the nastiest sounding punches I have ever heard. **** sounded like a .300 Remington magnum. CRAACK.

Oh and Gatti vs. Gamache. That **** wasn't fair.

These are definitely up there with the worst I've seen in the history of boxing. Simply brutal.

Jackson vs Graham is the worst KO I've ever seen. It is the perfect one punch KO. Right on the tip of the chin by the most powerful P4P puncher ever. It's also made even worse because up until that point Jackson was getting the whipping of his life!

Hearns vs Duran is so stunning as Duran had never been KO'd or even hurt in any of his fights. Again, it was about as good a punch as anyone could ever have landed. The perfect right hand on the chin! So incredible because it was so unexpected.

Gatti vs Gamache was just a complete mis-match. They never should have been allowed in the ring together. Gatti actually looked like a middleweight fighting a lightweight. Unfortunately for Gamache, it turned out that it really was like going up against a middleweight puncher when he got hit. I thought he had died or his neck was broken or something. Brutal, vicious KO.

Yeah, Gatti had twenty pounds on Gamache I think on fight night. That three punch combo that Gatti landed was nothing nice.

Another one that comes to mind is big Lennox's uppercut on Grant. Grant looked like somebody hit the light switch on him. BOOM...
