Why don’t you just state you are a simple boxing fan who has an opinion completely unsupported by anyone but...yourself. Can you name three noted boxing historians or writers who CURRENTLY support your opinion? I’m asking for just THREE in the whole wide world that don’t rate Holmes top ten ATG hwt champion. Bet you can’t simply because you have no clue what your talking about.

In mine? Honestly I think 9-12 could feature any of Tyson, Johnson, Dempsey and Liston. These days I am leaning more and more towards Tyson but still give the edge to Johnson. I think Tyson perhaps did more as a champ but Johnson's rise to the title is very impressive given some of the fighters he beat. The fashion of Tyson's rise is hard to ignore though.

Dempsey's reign doesn't stand out either but he got excellent work in prior and the same for Liston. Liston perhaps I give the benefit to because I figure him to be one of the best head to head. He's too skilled to lose to the sluggers and too strong to lose to most the boxers.

Liston would not come to mind as being overly skilled. Good jab, great puncher but a very open defense and an overall predictable fighter in the ring. Plus he fails big time with intangibles as he gave up the most prized of titles in all of sport sitting on his stool.

Alright, my $.02 for the All-Time list. I'm sure most everyone else will disagree because we all have opinions like we all have *******s.

                  1. Ali. The GOAT. He's the guy who would be favored in any fight against anyone else. He could KO you. He could outpoint you. He'd mentally beat you. He won young and quick, he won fat and old.

                  2. Louis. I like to call Louis the first modern HW - he just looks different than anyone who came before him. But he was gifted decisions against guys like Wolcott and he only had a couple of fights as champ before the war and the bum of the month club. I would have loved to see him in a more competitive era.

                  3. Jack Johnson. I'm always hesitant to rank guys I never saw but this is the all-time list. And Johnson is an all-time fighter.

                  4. Marciano. He has the 0. He has the guts. He has the will. He has that jackhammer left. He didn't have the competition and he didn't have the same skill set as other guys on this list.

                  5. Dempsey. Most don't realize his loss to Tunney was after a 3 year layoff. Tunney doesn't beat him before that layoff. Jack was a monster during his day.

                  6. Big George Foreman. How a man whose hands are that slow generates that kind of power is beyond me. And to come back and win the title - or even compete - with top fighters in his 40s after a decade layoff is remarkable.

                  7. Tyson. Iron Mike didn't have a great career and once he split with Rooney his boxing skills declined dramatically. But at his peak Mike was just unbelievable. So quick, hard to hit and could bomb guys out with either hand. So he ends up near the tail end of this list because his peak was so high if too short. But there's no one else on this list in his prime that I'd rather watch more.

                  8. Lennox Lewis. I truthfully never liked Lewis much and his list of opponents isn't as great when you look at them where they were in their careers. But he avenged his only losses, was a giant with a great punch and was a smart fighter. The fight v Bowe should have happened if Rid**** didn't trash the belt and his reputation.

                  9. Frazier. Down goes Frazier, right to #9. But Smokin' Joe was a great fighter. He would have never beaten George Foreman in 100 fights. But he'd battle Ali to the end in every fight and won the true Fight of the Century.

                  10. Liston. Sonny has the disadvantage of being ducked for so many years he only had a couple of title defenses. But he should have had a crack at the title long before then. Look at 1960 - he just destroyed every top contender. Cleveland Williams, Foley, Roy Harris...he wrecked them all. But he didn't get a crack at the title until '62 and then lost it two years later to the GOAT. Then won 14 more until finally getting KOd at age 39 (37? - his DOB isn't exactly known).

Next batch: Holmes, Tunney, Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko, Charles, Wolcott and ...?

Guy who I didn't want to put in my top 10: Holmes, just to piss off Houdummy.
Guy who I wanted to put in my top 10: Vitali Klitschko. His level of competition wasn't great but his only two losses were due to cuts/injury. 45-2 with 41KOs.

Fight I most want to see between guys in this top 10: Frazier v Tyson. Peak Tyson wins this match but it certainly would be an exciting fight and worth any amount of PPV $$$.

Your top ten is similar to mine in terms of the fighters it contains. However I don’t rate Frazier or Liston. Instead Holmes and Tunney would be included. Tunney being the greatest pure boxer ever to hold the championship.

I forgot one other guy who I would consider making my next list.

Ike Ideabuchi. What a wasted career but anyone who saw him fight knew he was The Next Big Thing. Probably my most "what might have been" guy.
