I have some revising to do and will no longer have a top 10 lsit in my signiture until I am comfortable with my new ratings.
Once I learn more I would likely have close to half of the top 10 great heavies before 1937. You only 3 or so on your list Joe louis started in the 30s I think. Still not a bad list but I think boxers pre 1940 must have been very good also. People back then were in better shape in due to working harder with less machines and football and basketball were non exsistent so boxing may have drawn more top athlete's. Other then that I can not say anything is wrong with your list.

It's not simply speed. It's the amount of energy generated and there are a lot of factors that go into that. Simple speed is only a small part of the equation.

Certainly appears that way. I do think there's a reason that Frazier got up 6 times in the first fight. Tremendous amount of energy, more than enough to knock him down, but Foreman's fists weren't traveling fast enough to knock him out.

Well, in Frazier's case, it way well have been a case that he was just incredibly tough and had a better chin then some around here give him credit for. A great chin beats a great punch and this has been shown over and over again throughout boxing history.

I disagree with the order but agree mostly with the choices. At the end of the day its all about opinions.

I think I'm finally satisfied with my list. But I think Jersey Joe Walcott, Langford, and Charles are all honorable mentions.

I think it's one of the better lists in this thread, being honest, & it's clear you've put real thought into it. My only major gripe is with Johnson, who I do not rate nearly as highly as some. However, he is obviously a popular choice for most, so that's understandable. The rest of your list is approaching impeccable for the amount of thought you have placed into it, & the result is fittingly studious.
