The Mysterious Death of 175lb World Champ Freddie Mills

In retirement from the Ring British Lightheavyweight World Champ Freddie Mills became a friend of the Krays and lived the wild life. In 1965 he was found shot in the head in London like so Mny Kray associates. The police said suicide, but several lurid theories sprang up: such as that Mills, married with children, had been arrested in a public toilet and charged with *******ual indecency; or that his suicide was staged by Chinese gangsters who were after his club. A recent book even explored the posibility Mills had murdered eight **********s found in the Thames between 1959 and 1965 (the so-called "Jack the Stripper" killings), then killed himself when the net began to tighten.

Queries continue about the suicide itself, most notably around the belief that the gun was too long to be used in the car and was found on the back seat.

Mills is buried in Camberwell new cemetry & has a glove on his grave.

    - -Seems like a Brit authority/boxing fan might have done a lot more research with a lot more official pull than a common author. Gonna do a search on my book seller site.

Mills suffered of daily headaches after his boxing career.

Makes me wonder, how many fighters have been, or are, paying the price for once being a pro-boxer?
        Nasty sport.

I've heard that about retired football players too.

            - -My bookseller lists a half dozen books on Mills including one police insider.

Looks like he's been covered thoroughly though I'm not interested.
