why has the topic of this thread drifted and why do some want to discredit the ***ish fighters? the greats were great. barney ross, abe attel, max baer, charlie rosenberg, maxie rosenbloom, not to mention some really good fighters in the modern era like undefeated prospects dmitry salita (who will be a co-feature on the Roy Jones-Calzaghe fight), and yuri foreman for instance.

Let's take a look at one fighter, perhaps the best ***ish pound-4-pound fighter ever. espn ranked benny leonard as the 7th greatest fighter of all time based on In-ring Performances, Achievements, Dominance in the era (against all ethnicities and religions) and overall Mainstream Appeal.

blacks fought in that era contrary to what you guys may think. for example, leonard defeated leo johnson who was one of the best african-american lightweights of the era, and fought others as well. do your homework before you slam a whole religion and an era of fighters...
