MILLBRAE, Calif. – Lightweight Jalan Walker is looking to regain momentum in his career Thursday night after a startling upset loss last year.

Walker of Los Angeles faces Jerry Perez tomorrow in an eight-round headlining bout at the Fox Theater in Redwood City, California.

Walker, 23, tipped the scales at 135lbs, which Perez matched him at.

Walker, 13-1-1 (10 KOs), suffered a knockout loss to Alejandro Guerrero last April shortly after signing with Top Rank. Since that fight, he signed with Westside Promotions and has fought once. Walker noted that he would show his ring intelligence in this fight.

“It makes me hungrier,” Walker told BoxingScene about his loss. “There were reasons behind that loss. We will speak on that later at a different time.”

Perez, 14-5-1 (11 KOs), who is nine years older than Walker, enters on a three-fight losing streak. Notably, Perez of Oak Hills, California, was stopped in his last two fights. Perez expressed confidence in winning the fight, citing his experience with southpaws.

Erick Kedar Gainous, who is signed to Mayweather Promotions, weighed in at 167.4lbs. Gainous, 6-0 (4 KO ), moved to Las Vegas two years ago and signed with Mayweather last December. Trainer Otis Pimpleton accompanied him for his four-round 170lbs catchweight bout. His team has hopes of him fighting at middleweight in the future.

Gainous faces Mario Hernandez of Reno, Nevada, who weighed in at 168.6lbs. Hernandez, 26, enters with a record of 2-1-1.

This fight night will also feature a silent auction, with all proceeds will benefit the Fam 1st Family Foundation, founded by Marshawn Lynch, Josh Johnson, and Marcus Peters. Items that will be auctioned off include autographed boxing gloves by Floyd Mayweather Jnr and 1984 Olympic gold medalist Henry Tillman, who will also be a broadcaster on the live stream.
