Why have we looked the other way on China

We've known you can't do business there without them owning some of your company. Trade, currency manipulation, viruses, spying, why have we looked the other way for so long?

    Edit,
    Child labor
    Human rights violations
    Concentration camps
    Pollution
What else? Yet we cry over the climate change. We ***** about our own country yet do business with China?
How does any of this make sense?

lol at muricans trying to virtue signal

you looked the other way for the same reason you look the other way when it comes to your buddies in Saudi Arabia and all the nasty stuff they do, as the brutal dictatorship they are:

        financial interests

it's just because China has now become a threat and a competitor in the economic and geopolitical landscape that the chinese suddenly developed horns and fangs for the muricans

otherwise you'd still be doing business with them as usual

Because the politicians on both sides who sold us out to China got very rich doing so.

Man down, you have to understand the situation historically... China has always been viewed as the mother lode... the idea being, selling just one widget to every china man, as a concept would enrich any entrepenuer beyond measure... and its not just business men.

The Jesuits, upon arriving into China set up shop and were amazed to find that without much consideration at all, the Chinese wanted to be Catholic...in droves. They were beside themselves, ready to declare the greatest religious progression in history... but alas. As they quickly found out the Chinese would take any blessing, and the jesuits were laughed out of town because the Chinese had no concept of "a brand" of religion. The Chinese used all their religions... Taoists cured, Confucians held civil service, Buddhists dealt with the dead...

Every business entering China soon found similar differences. China was always a promise, alas, an unfulfilled promise. yet the temptation never entirely goes away. Every businessman wants entry to a staggering amount of consumers. Corporations, etc will put up with many transgressions to get that opportunity.

Of course those who do not understand this long standing sentiment always think we do business in China because of cheap labor. Same misunderstanding that lets people believe that Tesla is a "car" company... Having a product produced in China might create consumers in China down the line... if you are selling sodas, and could sell just one soda to half the people in China... you can see the temptation. And Tesla? Musk knows damn well that the market for a big project like a car, is nothing compared to the market for the premier battery that will power the solar systems of the future.

Corporations, they do not care about ethics... they want in on the market with the most consumers. India has sustainable resources but does not have the money that China has in its consumer base.

            And that is the reason!
