Why do some people say "rest in power" instead of "rest in peace?"

it's just to show respect i guess.. to show that the person that passed was a strong person not in the sense of muscular or anything. just kinda like saying rest in paradise meaning the person will live good and happily in the after life.

Rest in power
Phrase meaning that a deceased cannot rest in peace until society changes due to the circumstances of a death.
Example: "People said rest in power for the unarmed man had been shot by the police."
Not surprised

never heard the phrase... " rest in power "... before today
I'm guessing it's a new one... that somebody thought was cool, for some reason

That’s when people want to desecrate ones memory by using their passing as some political prop instead of just letting them Rest In Peace.

I say rest in p3nis to dead hoes. But the truth is those hoes couldn't rest if p3nis was around them.
