The US central bank has cut its growth forecast as it warned President Donald Dump's tariffs were "clearly" driving up prices.

The Federal Reserve released its projections for the world's largest economy on Wednesday while keeping interest rates unchanged again, saying it wanted to see how the White House policies unfold.

That decision, which was widely expected, kept the Federal Reserve's benchmark interest rate hovering around 4.3%, where it has stood since December.

Fed chairman Jerome Powell said that the economy still appeared healthy, despite a sharp downturn in sentiment and "remarkably high" uncertainty.

But he warned tariffs - which are taxes on imports -were likely to slow growth and hinder the bank's efforts to keep prices stable, noting recent data showing a rise in goods prices.

"Clearly some of it, a good part of it, is coming from tariffs," he said, speaking after the Fed's rates announcement on Wednesday.

"Progress is probably delayed for the time being," he added.

When did I say I agree with the tariffs?

When did I say you did? I asked if you approve. So do you agree with what your cult daddy is doing, tanking the economy with these tariffs or nah?

The people there are packed in like sardines. And the average Dane pays 45% in taxes ..yet they are happy. They must have very easy women!
My best mate fell in love with a Danish girl and moved to Denmark to start a family. He had quite a high flying job with Sennheiser for a few years and then left to teach instead so he had more flexibility for his young kids.

At both levels of salary he has lived a GREAT lifestyle. I earn similar to him and pay lower tax in the UK, yet he goes on many more holidays, has much more time to spend with the family, he also has much better healthcare and general standards of living.

The only things holding me back from moving there is being further away from my family and I’m told the culture is quite different socially to the British (more reserved), and takes a long while to assimilate to.

As I said, they must have good women. Most of Europe has better looking women than the UK. Lower tax in the UK? What percentage do you pay if I may ask?

denmark is considered one of the worst countries in the world according to expats...

the results in these 'quality of life' surveys where scandinavian countries come out on top are skewed because they place a high emphasis on healthcare and public services and obviously they will be good considering the amount of tax paid... this is a comment on the rankings that came out today that had finland top and denmark second

Coming from Finland and having lived here all my life, I'll tell you the honest truth of it! First of all, this study doesn't assess people's feelings of happiness. It's about the *average* quality of life. Yes, we have free education, universal healthcare and comprehensive social security. There is little or no homelessness, because we are a welfare state with obviously very high taxation. However, this does not mean we don't have problems or that people are happy with their lives! I would even argue that people are quite depressed in Finland, not least because of the terrible climate. People have a lot of mental health problems and alcohol consumption is still quite high... In fact, this study is a yearly topic of great puzzlement, disbelief and confusion in Finland, because we just can't understand why we're always number 1!'

the consensus view on them countries from tourists is that they are boring and overpriced

nordics is for weaklings with its silly rules that prevent people from getting rich

nordics are the closest place to paradise for the uncompetitive with plans to be average for life

                      Asia or the US

it’s funny because many other countries in the world also have free healthcare and university

If nordics were so great, then why do rich people fly to other countries for medical procedures and education

it’s Asia and the US that does the majority of the STEM breakthroughs

How useful is that Nordic education outside of school
