How do you feel about the late great Tupac. Was he the greatest rapper of all time? Was he overrated? Was he a actor playing gangsta? Thoughts?

I like his music but he was more living up the image than actually the real thing.
He understood that it was showbiz but some of his antics got him in trouble, also he was a decent actor and went out in his prime.

Greatest rapper of all time in my opinion. Nobody rapped with the passion he did. "Pain" is probably my favorite song from himWilly_Hagler_3:16 likes this.

He served eight months in prison on sexual abuse charges. He was friends with drug dealers. His mother I think was a black panther member.
The and former members of the Black Panther Party stood guard to protect him one time when he was shot... once.. I take it you know who they are and what they stand for.
But as a rapper there is not doubt he was a talent. One of the best ever. But as a man, well...rather Malcom X like.
I think his style was West coast, yet he was born in the East. The 2 forms of rap clashed with bullets leaving Biggie Smalls and Tupac, both the biggest stars of the time, dead.

I can't seem him a anything but the greatest of all time. He stood head-and-shoulders above his peers at the time, and his shadow looms large to this day. There are guys that can technically rap better the same were there are guys that can play guitar faster and cleaner than Jimi Hendrix but don't have the songs.boxingfan91 likes this.

He was somewhere on the rainbow flag spectrum, an actor playing a role. Not to say he didn't have talent, but he wasn't the hard core gangsta he portrayed himself as.

I love Pac and his music, but he was definitely kinda suspect lol. He was an effeminate artsy drama student (borderline gay) when he was younger.
People can say he was playing the role of a gangsta, but he died the way a real gangsta does, sadly. Just appreciate him for what he is. There are better rappers than him technically, but he had a great voice and stage presence. Music is about being able to connect with the audience, not many people did that as well as Tupac did.paul77 likes this.
