    Bring back ice age animals?

I don't know if the board is familiar with CHISPER technology and gene editing but is here and can in theory bing back extinct animals such was the Woolly Mammoth and the Tasmanian Tiger to name just a few animals that went extinct fairly recently within say the last 50,000 years and have been found preserved in permafrost or recent became extinct 1800-early 1900's )

It not a question of IF it will happen but WHEN. I think we will see it in out lifetimes. Thoughts form anyone specifically on those familiar with the process.

The Woolly Mammoth with is spectacular 6-14' tusks particular captures my imagination. One day it might be roaming again in Alaska or the Arctic tundra. I was in a room and saw a private specimen replica once. It was special.

For the unknown benefits. For example one of the might have the right stuff leading for a medical breakthrough or the might help with climate change, read this:

Now I not for bring back 30 foot carnicvorus jurassic park style animals ! But maybe some of the animals will to be beneficial and in some cases even friends to mankind. For example the giraffe is one of the friendlist animals you will ever meet up close, and the rhino although can be dangerous is actually like a happy dog. Is the woolly Rhino the same? I don't know it went extinct in the ice age. But like other animals it was preserved by permafrost.

This converstaion is not limited to animals alone. Some plants can be brought back too, but I say only in greenhouses. Why? Oh they might prove to cure cancer.

This is an adult type of conversion. I briefly touched upon the benefits. I think its cool and like will happen whether you like it our not.

Most dinosaurs would be extremely lethargic today if they were around. Apparently the earth was oxygen rich at 35-40% when they lived. Now it is roughly 21%. Very big animals need oxygen to move around. Sorry to disappoint the jurassic park fans. Millions of year ago, earth was hit by an asteroid or significant size, and I think the impacts created a lot of dust in the atmosphere killing off most plants which could have been end for the oxygen starved dinosaurs. The big animals disappeared back then...most of them I think. My theory which has yet to be fully explained by the media. If you think about it, it makes sense.

I keep reading about them bringing back extinct animals too. I saw something about making the Dodo bird come back.

A clumsy flightless bird is not at the top of the list of animals to be bight back. The **** other animal brought by humans ate their eggs and the sailors ate the dodo birds which was as big as a turkey.( 40-45 Lbs )

i think it would be interesting... i say we do it! but start with the smaller animals so it'll be easier to contain if it gets out of control.

just a thought... but instead of bringing back extinct animals, how about we bring up the populations of the endanger animals we have now? why not start cloning a few pride of lions, etc..

How would that work exactly? With gene pools and inbreeding i dont understand how you could successfully bring more than one specimen back.
